Root Lagging force-closing about everything

Longtime DX owner. Still on Froyo :), rooted. Go Launcher. Since yesterday my phone has been lagging horribly, force-closing most apps. I've done the usual. Yanked the battery, cleared the cache, eliminated unused apps. Restarted phone, pulled the battery a few times. Done a scan with Lookout(nothing). Battery seems OK(no bulges and it's about 6 months old). Well, the battery does spin on one side more than the other but it's not like it's got an obvious bulge.

There was a recent Go Launcher update and I'm leaning toward that. But....

Just can't seem to get it to act right.

Any ideas?

Not a good time to mention a new phone, wise crackers ;)

UPDATE TO POST: I borrowed a friend's battery and it seems to be acting a little better. Will update after I mess around a bit.

well from what i have read about sims issue, verizon is bogging down the data connection to get users onto a 4G phone, basically, they are forcefully pushing users to get the new 4G phones, even if 4G isnt in your area, your phone becoming slow and unresponsive could be anything, since you are rooted, are you familiar with SBF? if you try an SBF to froyo you might enjoy it more, or test out a new rom

you can sbf to .602 and install a ROM from there and enjoy cm7/cm9/miui/omfgb/omgb/ssx/etc/etc

since your phone is rooted, i moved this to all things root

I don't know what you mean by "traditional", but if you mean take the OTA updates, then don't do that. You'll most likely get "upgraded" to .621 and then you won't be able to root or SBF backwards again. I always use the Linux boot disc method that is detailed at droidxforums. There's a .605 SBF available now, too. Either that or .602 will get you in a position to be able to flash any of the Gingerbread ROM's.

I can attest to this nonsense with Verizon. I'm not even in an area that has 4G yet, but the 3G connection has been just horrendous lately. I mean atrocious. I'd like to blame my phone (DX) but I can't let Moto take the full blame on this. The 3G 1G handoff has always been crap on this phone, but now that it's happening almost constantly it's almost more than I can stand. Even if I switch to a 4G phone, it won't matter - I don't have 4G coverage in my hometown. These big companies suck. \rant

I sbf'd to .602. All fine now.

Just be careful about the .621 update coming down on you. It's a push update and will install on its own if you're not looking at your phone and tell it not to. Even then it will keep trying. You should root and either install a ROM or freeze the updater with Titanium Backup.
