Since I soon will not be able to use my LG Motion any more anywhere, what can I do with it? Is it recyclable or does it just go into a land fill??

Metro will trade it in. Just wait till CDMA starts shutting down in your area to do so. If you already bought a GSM phone, they probably won't do it.
Thanks, Sammy. What will they do with it, do you know?
Just because the phone service does not work any more doesn't mean it's a totally useless device. Everything on a decommissioned Android phone still works except the cell service (actually it will still make 911 calls as long as there is a compatible tower in range). Apps that need internet will work with wifi, other apps will work as before, your Google account remains active. You can even use it to make calls with VOIP apps.
Currently I'm using two of my old LG phones (including the Motion) as streaming media players connected to stereo receiver/amps in my house.
Or, if you don't care about any of that most electronic retailers will accept old phones for recycling.
Hi Fox,
Thanks. I knew that 911 would still work, but I did not know the other. Interesting. My hope is that LG will release a new Motion that will work on the Metro's new platform. I have really enjoyed my Motion.

If you liked the Motion you should like the F3. Except for the smaller storage it's the same but better. I've had mine since last summer and it's been great. I wouldn't bother with the L70, no LTE and maybe some other differences.
You can still use everything except the phone as long as you have Wi-Fi and you can use it for an MP3 player as well.
And I thought these phones would work even after the change as it won't affect 4GLTE?
And what about using Skype?
I have an LG Spirit and like it very much and would like to get at least another year out of it.
Probably send it to LG for refurbishing/rebranding/recycling. Whatever LG decides to do with it...could reuse the LCD for another cheap LG phone. New phones might be built from refurbished parts for all we know haha.
Is it true that there are very few carriers around the world where that have a cdma2000, 1x, 2g or 3g network and an LTE network? If so, this explains why Metro had trouble getting a wide variety of phones until Tmobile came along. Just something I've wondered about for awhile but never asked.

if you are a little tech savvy and can follow directions well. and if you have wifi in your home
I use my old LG motion 4G as a house phone, to do this go to Google Play and look for an app called groove ip light, it lets you pick a phone number and you can use it just like a regular phone
before I switched to an LG motion, I had an LG Optimus M, I now use that phone as a motion detector security camera in my bedroom.
my current phone is a lg optimus f6
there are lots of things you can do with old Android phone, just google it
What is your security camera/ motion detection app?
Hopefully it didn't catch anything naughty in your bedroom, lol.
I'll probably sell mine.
If you are using it, there's two samba servers in the play store. you can browse the phones SD card over the network from another computer and not have to start anything on the phone, other than set samba to run on boot. Theres also the autorun app.
I just toss my old phones in the ditch behind my neighbor's place where I pour all my old used oil.

Another idea is an auto gps device.
Connect it to your new phone hotspot. It can still get a GPS fix from the satellite, leave data off and WiFi on. Just be sure it's not charging when the car is off.
