Landscape mode, SenseUI, and the kickstand

Am I the only one who thinks HTC needs to get on the ball and tweak SenseUI to work in landscape mode? I mean seriously, they built the hardware with the kickstand for it to sit in landscape mode yet the software is stuck in portrait.

Does anyone know of a reference that lists the differences between stock Android and SenseUI?

It does on sliding phones like the Droid and the Moment. Not sure about phones like the Nexus

Doesn't work on the Nexus. But the weird thing is that with a little tweaking, Sense on WM could be rotated. I wish it was the same on Android. Hopefully on 2.2!

Landscape on the evo wouldnt work with the kickstand. On another thread someone said the phone would fall over if the left half of the screen was touched. It would be a good feature though, maybe turn on/off in the settings?

I use it all the time in landscape mode for other apps. Never had a problem with it "falling over".

Would love to know if anyone has found a way to get the home screen to work in landscape mode yet.

I think the case makes a difference with this. I use it all the time and I have the BB case and it doesn't fall over. besides, the touch is sensitive enough to lightly touch the screen. I would love to see HTC do a landscape sense.

It looks like the programming for landscape mode is in there, somewhere. Take a look at my attached screenshot. I received this text message right after my screen timed out, in landscape mode. I took a screen shot really quick because it went away a moment later and asked for my unlock pattern.

Disregard the text message, but take a look at the background that's grayed over. It's all in landscape mode! I hope the next update allows me to switch this auto adjust setting on, permanently!

I'm sure my SMS popup app is forcing it somehow to show the hidden landscape mode. take a look on the right where it's trying to show the portrait mode :-)

Agree 100%! The thing I hated most about TouchFlo 3d on WinMO was that it would always go to some generic landscape homepage, instead of TouchFlo3D. And I hated TouchFlo3D.

I love Sense UI in comparison to TouchFlo3D (even though Sense UI was based off the original TF3D), but they without a doubt need to figure out a way for it to work in landscape.

if you turn off sense, and install Launcher Pro, your home screen and everything else will be in landscape..
I did this a few days ago, and made the phone seem like it was a totally different phone!

It only disables it from the homescreen. Everything else is still running Sense which screw's up emulator gaming :( (I.E. wiimote controller app blocked by Sense)

One of the main reasons I haven't taken the plunge yet. What's the point of a huge 4.3' screen + kickstand if you cant even play games properly...

i dont play games on the phone, so that never occurred to me..
but, you are wrong about only home screen being landscape; I have 5 screens with Launcher Pro and EVERY ONE of them is in landscape if I want it to be,you can scroll through them in landscape!

Yea I use 'Launcher Pro'. You don't have to turn off Sense though. The app Launcher Pro takes over and acts as a stock adroid, because not all the sense features or widgets show in the launcher. But yea it's pretty smooth and has landscape and is really custom to your liking. But I would like to see HTC or Google come up with their own for Sense and Stock native like. It's a lot of little things they can still do that will have a big impact.

Is that the exact name of the app ("Launcher Pro")? I can't find it on app brain.
