Landscape mode, SenseUI, and the kickstand

Try ADW.launcher, I prefer it to Launcher Pro..just has more customization options.

For a Friend Stream replacement, use Pure Messenger. It's actually better.

Still looking for a News widget alternative.

No, the stock Sense widgets do not show up in LauncherPro.

Sorry for the complete "newb" follow-up question, but are "HTC" widgets only referring to the widgets that HTC created or is that for any widgets that were available on the phone, prior to downloading anything from the market?

So strange being able to customize shortcut icons on my phone, but absolutely love the capability (without having to mess with the ROM). It's day and night from WinMO.

T.I.A. for the help.

Then you shouldnt be on Android...an open OS...;)

Openness is not what's in question...I know about open aleady...check out my blog in my sig and you'll see :)

This is a question of leaving out simple functionality and forcing us to find a way to fill in the gap ;)

I get you on that, but hey at least we have options. Unlike the iphone were you have to either jailbrake it or wait until Apple decides what you need.

If open means "doesn't work out of the box" then I'll take a closed system everyday of the week.

As for this particular issue, I have to wonder what happens to the widgets when the screen would be turned sideways? They are designed at a certain size, and you position them on your screen. Would each widget have to be redesigned with a horizontal version? This sounds like more work than it's worth.

If it's a phone like iPhone, then yeah, I can buy it. But with all the widgets and customization options this would be a very large undertaking.

I doubt we'll see it happen with the current setup.
