Root Latest Flytouch 3 Custom and Modded Roms-updated

I have the same problem on my unit:
Model Number: SAWEE10
Android version: 2.2_20110430
Kernel: 2.6.32.9
Build: FRF85B

I have formatted the SD, sized 4GB, using the tool suggested in first post, extracted the zip file in the root, in which i have firmware2 (2.7mb) and firmware-discovery(186.4mb, a zip file itself anyway).

I've shut down the unit, putted in the sd card, switched on but the standard android booted instead of the upgrading process.

I'm missing something?

Yes....the Build of FRF85B has nothing to do with it. Everyone has the same info in 'Build'. What is important is your Model Number of SAWEE10. This model is very different in physical build so the firmware is different to the DISCO models. The update method is very different too, putting the two firmware files (which are incorrect for your build anyway) onto a tf card won't work. You need to look here Technical Help for SP III (Fake FT3-SP2-Clone) for help with your tablet

Calender doesn't seem to work. It asks me to add an account. It then says that the account is already on the phone (I guess it means tablet). But there is no way to access the actual calender with the account I have already registered. I keep getting the add account page on start up.
Oh I am using tims 5a rom

Yes, sadly you are, an easily upgradable tablet. Tim's firmware only works with 'disco' / 'disco10' tablets, and you have a 'sawee10'.

The 'sawee' / 'sawee10' tablets have a very different and far more complicated upgrade procedure.

I have one of those leather cases with built in keyboard, this now no longer works properly. All I get is lower case characters. The shift key or caps lock don't work. The keyboard works fine on my laptop as I am using it to type this. CAPS LOCK and shift both work.
Also any one got any ideas on the google calendar problem a couple of posts up from this one.
I upgraded to 5a hoping to get the VPN to work, but I would rather have the VPN not working and the other things working.

See tips:

Hardware USB Keyboard
Shift key doesn't work with some applications if using Better Keyboard 8 or the Android Keyboard
=>Switch the input method temporarily to Swift key trial
To get "Caps-Lock" push the Shift key twice< br/>

Solved Calendar problem. Ran the enable/disable calendar sync and rebooted. then changed to infotm instead of Launcher Pro. Do this by going to manage applications and clearing defaults for Launcher pro. Then when you exit out it will ask you for either infotm or launcher pro. Select infotm.
There may be a step or two that I may have missed, as I wasn't expecting it to work.
Can't get the external keyboard to work yet. May disable or unistall the Gingerbread keyboard app.
Oh and running the pad using infotm has speeded it up.
Opps should have read the tips about the keyboard thing. Still a bit of a pain to have to switch to Swift key though.

Have just loaded Tim's 5A Update (20110712) to my FT3 and while it went well, I do have a minor problem that I can't seem to figure out - perhaps there is a setting somewhere that I have missed.

Model: DISCO10
Vers: 2.2-20110529
Kernel: 2.6.32.9
Build: FRF85B

I have taken a jpg picture from the gallery and made it a wallpaper. I sized the part I wanted to show as the wallpaper, and hit the save button.

Alas, when I exit out of the Gallery and look at the main screen what I see is an enlarged picture showing me only the centre section rather than the whole picture.

The screen is a 1024 x 600

Any ideas?

so basically no point installing this dont see anything new of significance to bother with it.
sure if anyone see improvements after install please share

nice find though mutari

I have installed the last firmware as suggested by mutari, but can't log on my google account from the WI-FI network where I am now. (With the previous original firmware I was able to connect to gmail easy.)

Tried then to reinstall the original Flytouch3 firmware (s
done all the steps correct) and nothing happens when I start the System (doesn't update nothing).

Any ideas why this is happening?
Tks a lot.

I don't know if i am being a total biff or what, I have a card reader, I plug in my TF card, I format it to FAT32, I unzip the 5a files, put them onto the J:/ drive at the top level, there is nothing else on this memory card, I plug my IBEX 16GB tablet into the wall, I insert the TF card, it boots up as normal.. doesn't attempt to do anything with the TF card..Any ideas? Its driving me wild!

Just incase you need the info... its

DISCO10 build FRF85B
AppleWebKit/533.1 Version 4.0 Mobile Safari/533.1

-----------------------------------------------------

Turned out to be the card I was using, I reformatted the one from my blackberry, threw it in and it worked!!

Which firmware are you referring to?
Did you first establish your wi-fi connection in settings Wireless & Network?
Then go to Accounts & sync and add account.
Choose google then sign into your google account.
gmail should work.

As for not updating the firmware there could be a number of reasons you're having problems, most are with the sd card and the formatting procedure.
Try using the useful utilties.

To change the input method you just have to do a long push in a text box, like in the browser for example.
That will display a list of keyboard, then you select swift key .
Your shift key on your USB keyboard should now work, and if you hit it twice it will be like a caps lock.

=> restoring calendar settings from titanium backup seems to fix the issue

PPTP with or without encryption works by default with the rom.
There seems to still be issues with OpenVPN

I have tried that, it still doesn't work for me.. Its driving me wild!! All I want it a single homepage with some shortcuts to some files and a decent wallpaper.. I cannot for the life of me get the image to work without enlarging.

I used SD Formatter on that other TF card, I have thrown it into my Blackberry haha.

I new on this forum, so hi everybody :)

I have since last week the Flytouch 3. The tablet works fine, not great. Cause in standby-mode, the battery last for one hour even if the battery is fully charged. If i want to start-up the FT3 of standby i get a flashing screen in all colors and stripes, and the vibration-function is buzzing continuous. So i have to fully charge the tablet again, and put the tablet down by pressing the on/off switch for 10 seconds. And then it takes 5 hours to charge the tablet, again. This is not quite normal for a 6400mAh battery! I have recently installed the latest V4 update from Tim. Am i forgeting anything or play some app at the background of the system? Are this pulling the battery to empty? Anyone have experience with this?

I update the system with this link: http://public.timduru.org/Android/Flytouch3/Tim-V4/20110601_Tim4e.zip

Furthermore, I find that the touch-sensitivity of the screen is very slow and sometimes just slow the device responds.

I own the latest version of the FT3 with a black back.

Thanks in advance.
I have this same tablet but I am not sure if I can update. The information I have "about" my tablet is the following:

Model number: DISC010
Android version: 2.2-20110529
Kernel version: 2.6.32.9 zjd@dtlinuxserver #1
Build number: FRF85B

Can I update my software? How can I do this.

Yes you can. start reading.....look in the stickies for the three threads concerning new firmware & pick the one that suits your needs (s01, tims, official). Download the firmware to a PC. De-compress the archived files. Depending on which firmware you choose there will be 2,3 or 4 files. Format a spare tf card with SDFormatter.exe (google and download it) then copy JUST Firmware2 and Firmware-Discovery to the tf card. un-mount the tf card from the system tray, remove the tf card, place it in the external tf slot in the tablet, connect the tablet to the mains power supply and switch it on. When it says it has finished it will switch itself off, remove the card and delete the two update files from it. switch the tablet on and you are done....

I wonder how many more times this procedure is gonna be re-produced?

oops..wrong forum....never mind...look for the firmware you want and download it........
