Launcher Pro vs. Moto Stock

I use Launcher Pro, ADW and SenseUI on my DInc, all installed simultaneously without issue. I go back and forth between LauncherPro and ADW for my fav. Currently sticking with LP but have the others installed.

It's super easy to do. Go to market, download and install. THEN to make your life MUCH easier, also go to market and download the app "Home Switcher". You can click on "hope switcher" from the apps menu and it will show the three home launchers there. It shows which one is the default, and allows you to switch between them as well as changing which is default. But DEFINITELY give them all a try. You can always uninstall. Make sure you play around with all the settings to get it to fit you just right.

I also needed a scrolling calendar widget but haven't been overwhelmed with the one from HTC. So I use Pure Calendar with either LauncherPro or ADW because both of them support scrolling widgets. You can also use Jorte as the backend for Pure Calendar which I much prefer to the Sense Cal.

BTW, the scrolling widgets WON'T work with Sense and cause Pure Cal to act strange.

2nd, BTW, the LauncherPro developer is promising some great new features in the next update which should be sometime this week according to his website. :)

Just installed Launcher Pro for the first time. I should probably also mention this is my first Android phone!

So far I'm definitely liking it more than the stock moto UI... it just seems smoother, especially when browsing the app drawer, and I love that it adds text messaging and the browser into into the dock (there might be an option to add them in moto's UI but I didn't dig too deep.) The pinch-to-reveal all screens is very cool too.

Now get me root and FroYo, and this phone will be COMPLETELY badass.

Turn on the high quality scrolling also. Menu, preferences, advanced settings, and put a check in high quality scrolling. Try the 3d app drawer while your in the advanced settings also.

Good post. Informative. Thank you. This helps.

I am using the Stock UI...Launcher Pro would always take forever for me when I wanted to add a new widget or app to one of my home screens...the only benefit for me personally found in Launcher Pro is the 3D app drawer...that thing is tight.

With Launcher Pro you can view the home screen in landscape as well!
