Launcher Pro

Hello all. Have a quick question about lp. Can you not add items to the home screen? I tried long pressing on the home screen, going to add (which was blanked out), and going to the app drawer long pressing dragging and dropping onto the home screen and it won't stay . Am I oing something wrong here? What am I missing?

Do you have Shazam installed? If so, uninstall it. Try Soundhound. It is unlimited and free, plus faster tags.

Yes you can add items to your home screen. All the screens that come with LP are created equally. To add an item:

1. long press in any blank space on your screen

2. you will get a popup with the following options:

- shortcuts
- widgets
- launcherpro widgets'
- wallpapers

3. to add an app icon: select 'shortcuts'

4. you will get another popup which has the following options:
- Applications
- LaucherPro Shortcuts
- Activities
- Bookmarks
(and a few more)

5. Select applications

6. Wait for your screen to load all your apps.

7. Scroll down the list until you find which app you want to add.

8. Touch the app you want. (do not long press)

9. You will get another popup that says:

- Edit Shortcut

- click on ok (unless you have created some icons with another app to replace that one, in which case you would click on the screen to change it)

10. After you click on 'ok' the item will appear on the home screen you long pressed on in step one.

11. Long press on the item to move it to any location on the screen that you want.

12. Do this one at a time with each icon (app) you want on there.

13. If you want a widget instead...you do the same basic thing only you will have some different steps rather than those listed above.

14. If you don't like the app you put on your home screen, just long press on it and drag it to the bottom of your screen and put it in the waste can.

WARNING: If you get a message after putting it in the wastecan that ways do you want to uninstall....click cancel. This is VERY important!

That's it. It's very easy.

I Do know how to do it , but long pressing does nothing on the main home screen. Dragging apps from the drawer does nothing b either. I am not using the paid version if that helps.

You must be talking about the screen that has the lock and mute buttons on it.

No...you can't change that one.

Update; I deleted the google widget off my, home screen. Now I can put shortcuts and what not. Now the next problem. I can't move the icons to where I want them on my main home screen

No I know you can't change the lock /unlock screen. I am talking about the screen you get when you press the far hardware button on the bottom right

Before you save it as wallpaper, if gives you a little box to crop the part of the picture you want as a backround, if you expand that box so the WHOLE picture is selected, then you won't have a zoomed in annoying looking backround. Also, if you disable wallpaper scrolling, you will notice much smoother homescreens

Could be the picture , because I actually had the same problem with a picture I was using in the past, so I switched to one of the ones Zedge had, and cropped the whole thing, and it's not zoomed in...try a few diff pictures...even though I am sure you really want the one you are trying to use, but if worse comes to worse, you will need to use a diff pic

yeah im going to try do you know the exact size that can be used so it doesnt look blurry? if anything i can just photoshop some stuff into the right image size

Just a quick update to my earlier post; I had columns and rows set to one each. I changed that to 5 each and now I can have as many widgets out shortcut icons that can fit. Hope this helps anyone else having that issue:)

Gosh I never thought to ask you if you had changed your rows and columns. Glad you figured it out! :)

I'm new to this phone biz, and I'm thinking of trying LP because of all the hype. My question is, if I like LP, should I delete the stock launcher to free up space on the phone??? If so, how???
