Launcher pro?

It's taken me a couple days, but I finally figured out WHY I didn't like Launcher Pro when I first tried it but really like it now. This being my first Android device, I had no clue how things worked. I liked the Blur stuff, in that I had date/time/weather widgets and a facebook status widget. I also sorta knew where everything was after playing with Blur for a little bit. Then I installed LP and all that went away..AAAAGH!

NOW I know that all those things can easily be selected individually with new and exciting (and oh so numerous) variations!

LP defaulted to 3 homescreens which I didn't like at first, but then found out how to actually adjust the preferences. The 7 screens of Blur felt like too much (for now), as I only had a few icons here and there and found myself always scrolling around looking for stuff. In any case, I've dropped to using the 5 screens and 2 docks, and still trying to adjust things to my liking (finding chiknlil's time/date widget top-most priority)

Might end up purchasing the paid version of LP, as so far, google calendar doesn't have the options I want (specifically, a damn alarm!).

This was nearly my exact situation and experience! I like LP so much now that I went ahead and bought the Plus version. :D

Try "Calendar Pad". Its the best free calendar widget Ive found so far and it has alarms.

It has 'notifications' as I've just found out, but all it does is make the notification sound and that's it. I need an alarm that I have to turn off, otherwise I'll just miss the sound and forget.

OK, I am going to try this, I tried it once on my Mytouch Slide 3g and I hated it, honestly kinda freaked me out, but I am old and I fight change sometimes. After all these glowing reviews I will give it another shot. (Plus I have the weekend staring at me to tweak it and get it how I like it). If there are any tips or tricks that will make my transition easier, please feel free to drop those hints in here I will check back.

Anyone know how to get blur back as default home button action on atrix? Or should I just suck it up and setup LauncherPro. But I do kinda think the bootom row of buttons in launcher pro are redundant and therefore sort of inelegant...
You can either uninstall LauncherPro or, if you want to take some time to learn hot to use it or ADW Launcher, install Home Switcher. It will allow you to set a default launcher or switch among all the launchers you have on your phone.

As far as the LauncherPro dock goes, you can put any icon you want there and get rid of whatever redundancy you see. You can change the dock itself, too: take a look at all of these to get an idea of other things you can do.

For those who have a launcher program (either ADW or LP) does it lag or anything like that...I am hesitant to add a launcher program because it seems like it will lag up the phone when opening up apps or sliding through screens...any feedbacks will be great!

I'm using Launcher Pro and it's slightly faster, with the '3d' flip screens enabled, oh and high quality icons (during transitions)

I get what youre saying. What if you made the "notification" sound for the calendar something that is repetitive and 3-5 minutes long? It might not be something you turn off like an alarm, but once you mute it, it should go away.

Better yet, get Tasker and have it repeat alarms until you dismiss them. Tasker is the most powerful application on Android, get amongst it!

(and don't be discouraged by the initial learning curve, its so worth it!)

There's a definite learning curve with Tasker, but it's probably one of the best apps on the market, and well worth its cost.

I tried launcher pro for about a day and ditched it. I must be missing something. Any suggested videos on highlighting all the features? The single coolest feature I'd like is something I had on the evo with the HTC Sense UI where I could change my home screen scheme based on a profile. So, I could have one while I was at work and one while at home. For example, my work profile kept my work calendar and appointments on the main screen with more work related apps. Does Launcher Pro have that capability?

LP is quick. I ditched adw because it was laggy. Then again, I didn't play with it too much
