Root LauncherPro won't install

I'm trying out the DJ05 Super clean .9, but want to use Launcher Pro, which I bought. Tried to install it and all I get is an error saying:
'Installation of "Launcher Pro" unsuccessful'

Tried to reinstall with Titanium and same error. Looked in system/app and no 'com.fede.launcher'. I do have a copy of the apk ... com.fede.launcher.apk, but can't seem to load it. I tried to move it with Astro, but it wont move ... tried the Astro app installer and it gives the same error.

So now what?

.. and how would I do that? Market help says it can't be done?

Edit: Figured it out

Went to settings/applications/manage applications and noticed that it was there. Uninstalled then reinstalled with Astros application manager and it worked.

So now the question is ... where was it? I thought all user apps were under system/app?

Market downloads go into data/app...this is fine unless you want to remove touchwiz....in that case adw/ll/zeam or whatever has to be moved into system/app ahead of time or you ll get a never ending loop of fc s

Market downloads go into data/app though because the market doesn t have permission to touch your system....that's a superuser permission and one needs root to do so obviously :)

I had same problem just yesterday. Launcher pro was installed as a system appand wouldn't update. I had to delete it with root explorer then copy the new apk to the system/app folder set the permissions and reboot to get it to install. you can download the apk from the launcher pro web site.

if its moved into system/app i dont believe the market knows where it is/how to update it

yeah its not a big deal imo...just a minor inconvenience :)
Agreed. I tried to like Launcher 2 or whatever jt put in his vanilla 2 but Im too used to LP+ I guess especially the new one with the transitions. I think the gmail widget is coming out any minute now too for 0.8.4 or whatever Fed calls it

I'm probably too picky but I don't like Launcher2 because of the 3D drawer and animations. Both are a waste of time/space to me, I much prefer the instant response of a flat page with no transitions. Personal preference of course, I understand that a lot of people like the eye-candy :)

Do you have to turn off TW or just select LP as default? Wasn't sure if ties up more memory if both are running.

Its Launcher2 not TW launcher but the point is the same. You can use something like home switcher and select LP as default but IMO its fair more efficient to delete Launcher2 once you have LP set as default and installed in system/app. Launcher2 uses at least 15-20mb at the very least

And the usual less launchers=faster phone
