ok so i was doing a test on the RUU, i was checking how fast my wifi connection is , compare to the one on 1.5, i used the speednet app, i would usually get around 1.5-2.0 mb/s on Os1.5, on the Ruu, i got 2.9mb/s ..........the 3g, connection its preattie much the same!!

Bluetooth doesn't work in my car anymore (09 Infiniti G37). It worked fine with Android 1.5, but now with 2.1 it pairs fine, but I can't hear the person that I'm talking to and have to switch back to the handset to use my phone in the car. So disappointing! I'm guessing this probably won't be fixed in the final version.

alright, after several attempts to get this 2.1 leaked installed everything seems to be working perfectly.

biggest warning i have is for people using mybackup pro and to warn against using it to restore your contacts for any reason. yeah, it makes google go bonkers.

i will try syncing my bluetooth in the car tonight after work and see if i have the same problem described by folks.

ok.. maybe it IS NOT ready for prime time....

thought all was well... talking on a call.. then had wife call in... lost both... phone dropped calls and could not get them back... or if did could not hear them... investigating further

test> while on call receive second call.. what happens to you?

well i call my gf, and then made my mom call me, everything was good, no call was dropped, i could transfer from call to call, without a problem, and for the people that is having bluetooth issues have you try rebooting your phone???

so far so good for me :) one question, how do you sync your contacts with FB on this 2.1?
Hi, kids. New guy here.

I wondered the same thing. I upgraded, love it. I noticed the FB sync was pretty slow. A few started to show up, and by the next morning (that'd be THIS morning), all my FB contacts were there. Dunno what the delay was, but it's pretty danged nice.

Digging this release, whatever it is. Better battery life, pretty snappy response, etc.

But where's ShapeWriter? I no can find it...

OK! To start with I am a noob when it comes to Android OS. I have been in the computer industry for 27 years. I understand the process of alpha, beta, release candidate. I am embarrassed to admit I am Microsoft geek. I depend on my phone for my business. I own a successful IT company. I am thrilled with the whole concept of open source. I purchase my apps without hestitation to support developers. I grabbed my Hero and jumped off the cliff with the leaked rom. I was so tired of waiting. I am so happy I did this. If I have to live with my Hero just the way it is right now, I would be happy. This phone has become fully functional for me now. Like I said if I am stuck where I am at, that's OK. This is so much better than living in the stoneage of (1.5). I am very thankful for this forum and the exchange of ideas that goes on here. I started building a LINUX box today. :) Life is good.

THANKS!

This is a known issue with all of the 2.1 ROMs based off of this leak...which is yet another reason it's not ready for the general public. This is another reason people should research things before hopping on the bandwagon. This issue affects a small percentage of phones running 2.1 ROMs based on this leak but there is NO known fix yet.

Hasn't affected mine or any of the people that I know that did the update as well. I really believe that all you guys that maybe had flashed/rooted phone before and then tried installing this are having the problems. Everyone I know (including myself) DID NOT have any rooting/flashing on their phones prior to installing this and we are all having NO PROBLEMS. My bluetooth works perfect (Moto H12), worked perfect on 1.5, works great on 2.1.

I wonder what determines if this will be an issue with your phone? My call waiting/on hold function is spot on now. I never could make it work before. The dialer and start-end call response is noticeably snappier in response. I have noticed the same issues with voice dial however. The Navigate Voice recognition works extremely well, but I just can't get the voice dial to function reliably.

well i wasnt rooted when i did the RUU and its perfect, everything works great, now about the problems affecting some heros, when did you guys bought it?? mayb the new heros dont have this issues, like i got mines on february!!

To my knowledge every android device has issues, and said issues affects a small percentage of users!
So what is your point!

Look up theres all the proof you need!

Some people still just want to scare everyone off from using this. Oh well. I put the 3d gallery on today and it looks greats. Love it. Didn't get time to setup live wallpapers but I don't think I want to. Might just hold off on that. If anyone does want to install the XDA keyboard so you have the microphone and can talk instead of typing, it works well. It lags a bit typing if you leave vibrate on while typing, so turn that off and it works great. I also put autokiller on mine and set it to aggressive. Every time I checked it with ATK or autokiller there was always 70 or so MB free. So I just got rid of ATK since autokiller is working so well.

One thing I realized, with all the new apps in the market now I am down to 30MB left. So apps2sd is going to be a necessity sooner or later.

Hey Guys,

Do be careful. Don't do what I did and run the RUU on a non-rooted Hero.

Youll be stuck with it. It is impossible to go back to 1.5 Stock. (and i have the audio loss problems)

Here is a great thread on Android Central that goes over this...

Sprint 2.1 leak - Android Central Forums

If you did use the RUU on a non-rooted hero, here is to hoping that HTC/Sprint release the official update with the correct hboot. Else... yah.. rooted for life.

Actually it is not impossible to go back, the new hboot is not an incorrect hboot, it is in fact a newer version and will probably be the one used in the final build. It does not stop you from rooting the phone the proper way, I did mine right after running the RUU. As for flashing a recovery and going back to a custom ROM or something else, I looked into it a bit today and found a posting on xda telling how to do it. Here is a quick rundown of it.

You have to root the normal method, check the wiki at the top of the hero forum at xda for detailed instructions.

Then download the 1.6.2 recovery, info on this is in the rooting instructions at xda.

Only don't use the flash_image from xda, go to the site below and use the flash_image from this site and use the 1.6.2 recovery from xda.

By the way, having a rooted phone prior to running the RUU makes no difference. The RUU wipes every single thing on the phone which means rooted or not, nothing remains from the prior image.

well the battery is a +. i unplug the phone 15hours ago, and steal has 40% of battery, i was off today, so i was playing with it the whole day!! lolz, by the way xbrokdikdogx how did you install the 3d gallery?

did not mean to scare anyone off... 2.1 is light years faster... now the dialer works like one should with immediate response... just mentioned the call drop problem but to be honest it could have been and usually is USER error... oh yeah.. and I cannot get it to vibrate but maybe I will figure it out... the benefits far outweigh the minibugs... hey..it has vpn now.. needed that like four months ago.... but still cannot get my Freedom Pro bluetooth keyboard to work even using their newly posted android driver...

I got the apk from over at xda forums and then I just pushed it to the /system/app directory on the phone. It works well, except I hit the camera button once and it fced on me. The gallery still works fine though.

I'm talking about a very specific problem yet very problematic problem that has yet to be fixed. Do whatever you want to your phone but don't try bad mouthing me because I'm pointing out valid issues. Most issues are easy to deal with but when you can't make or receive phone calls on a PHONE then it becomes a bit more serious. That's my point.
