Root Leaked Gingerbread RUU

Really? my battery was good..i do have my 4g off tho..only use it when needed...and i dont oc either i keep it around 1ghz basically stock.

I wish i could say otherwise... But yes. It was every bit as bad as mr1 with the stock kernel. I had to plug it in a couple times. I was just starting to mess with kernels, cf 2.0 wasnt bad... I could barely squeek thru the day on a charge. I think i had the best battery life on tesla.

I had 4g off as well.

Prolly give it the day and then flash the kernel tomorrow evening.

I can see if you are in a non 4g area but besides battery life, why have the phone if you are going to turn 4g off, might as well stick with the incredible.

I leave 4g on all day and deal with the battery issue by putting in another battery when needed. the phone boots in under a minute, unlike a blackberry that takes all day.

and as far as 4g, i never have to worry about flipping a switch when needed, screw that, i need 4g ALL the time after seeing how fast it is. lol

i left it off because i dont have it here yet... no use using energy to search for it. when i do get it,ill prolly leave mine on all the time, but i use my internet alot.

i can see if you just get on now and then to check email while youre at work,or something to that affect,it may be beneficial to leave it off, then turn it on when you want to surf the web.

kinda like havin a v8 under the hood. you dont have to use it all the time, but that power is nice when you do ;)

Imo's kernel is based off of his 1.92 basic leankernel and it rocks. So far it works very well with the basic debloat GB leak.

I flashed it this morning, and it did indeed fix the camera. However, in the process it broke my bluetooth, lol. It will not find my bluetooth in discovery mode, period. With the stock kernel it worked, tho it woukd drop the connection if someone texted while i was on it.

I havent been able to send or receive pic mesages with either kernel  battery life is only slightly better today on imoseyons kernel.

Despite the issues, i dont think i can go back to froyo. Bkuetooth prolly takes precedence over camera, so unless there's a kernel update ill prolly go back to the htc kernel tonight.

I just wish I could get ANY of the GB roms to work on my phone. It must not like the stock kernel or the new kernel with the camera fix. It hangs and reboots on both. :(

my stock kernel is fine(other than the camera, picture messages, and crappy battery :p)... but i did have some wierd, sporadic reboots on the imoseyon kernel this afternoon. i was trying to check email and bam!reboot. came back up,was looking at some texts, bam! reboot. came back up,tried to check email again, bam! reboot. after that 3rd one i restored the backup i had from this morning with the stock kernel.

hang in there... they will get it figured out :)

just to be sure... you did do a data wipe, correct? you did flash the new radio? you did NOT use titanium to restore any system data, correct?

Yeah I wiped three times, cleared dalvick cache, rebooted thru adb and flashed the new radio. And I never use titanium backup .

I have faith they will get things more stable, just wish I could join in all the fun!

I'm waiting for a more stable build as well. My current setup is pretty much amazing so I'm in rush to move to something buggy as hell. It also helps knowing what great developers we have working on this and more than likely a stable build will be released in a week or two.

did you also clear cache?

you might give chingys rom a try(gingervitus),its soounds like hes putting alot of effort into it. i think ill maybe try it over the weekend, but im a little afrraid to today since its still got imos kernel in i-the reboots drive me nutso. while there appear to be fixes for the things the kernel broke when it fixed the camera ;) the stock kernel has been stable for me. just had the issues mentioned above. but at least bluetooth works and no random reboots

i havent spent alot of time tweeking it since its so early,im just happy to be on 2.3 again, finally. ill admit its purely psychological(2.2 works fine) but it just eats at me inside to have to run 2.2 on my TB when even my little eris runs a stable cm7,lol.

Man, there is nothing wrong with gingeritis v1b4. Smooth and fast. It has imoseyons' latest v2.5.3test2 kernel in it.

If you are waiting for stable, there it is.

Well according to Adryan, kernels right now are going to be hit or miss. Something drastic changed between Froyo and GB that is messing with the kernel code. Won't be able to get anything completely stable until the kernel source is released.

The Imo kernel is working perfectly for me. I've been running this as my daily driver since it dropped and now that the camera is fixed with his kernel it perfect for me.

Yep his newest kernel is working perfectly for me as well. Some are having issues though. Some phones are just different when it comes to kernels lol...

i may try the updated one tonight. my phone didnt like the first one,lol... if bluetooth works and i get no reboots ill stick with it.

i made it home today with 8% battery remaining, and no reboots. :)

What is your total setup that you esn today scotty?

ZOmg! Finally!!!!!!!1!! I got a working GB ROM with no reboots! Thank you DasBamf 2.0-2!!! Running it stock with no mods right now, but so far so good!

i flashed 2.0,then saw 2.0-2 up a few minutes later  i went ahead and flashed it over, and so far seems good, except that i appear to still have the htc kernel, and no working camera. no biggie, picture messages and bluetooth are working,as is usb storage. im happy :) the kingdom weather lockscreen with working controls is totally sweet... its what pushed me over the edge to go ahead and flash it :D

not sure i understand your first question :o

noob question here, how do i load this Rom?
usually the radion you do it with hboot

correct, the radio will get renamed to PG05IMG and placed on the sd card, along with the rom. jacase's instructions for the leak were to flash the rom,use adb to reboot to bootloader, then flash the radio.

alot of folks without access to adb were doing a battery pull to get to hboot after flashing the rom,and that seemed to work fine.

lastly,i think youd be fine to power off, power on into hboot, flash the radio,go to recovery, flash the rom, then reboot. i personally followed the original instructions, but i dont think flashing the radio before the rom is going to hurt... i think you could even reboot between the radio flash and rom flash if you had to,but your phone, mms, data, etc. is not going to work with froyo on the GB radio.

Go easy on me here, how do I load using adb, is there
A step by step instructions ?

I know how to get to terminal on my MAC, but what keys do I input to put this gingerbread.

I'm not trying to be a jerk, but Scotty's instructions were spot on, per usual, and if you don't understand what adb is at this point you shouldn't be flashing things that require it in the instructions

It's all good, I got his instruction using the hboot and
Removing the battery after flashing Rom.
But I wanted to try using abd on terminal.

first off, worm makes some good points. if you need a rom thats 100% ready and stable this isnt it,yet. you may be better off holding out. eventually there will be more leaks, and the kernel source code will be released, wich will make all the 2.3/sense roms fantastic... same stability as the current froyo roms.

if you are ok with the fact that it might have issues, and you might need to flash the stock radio back and go back to froyo after playin with it a couple days, then flash away :)

you are prolly making the adb part of it to be bigger than it is in your head. you dont need to push any files,or copy and paste a bunch of code.

all you need to do is download rom and radio, and transfer to phone via usb. rename radio PG05IMG. put phone back in charge mode.

open your command window. i like doin stuff in adb,so at this point i made sure adb was seeing my phone(type "adb devices"),then typed "adb reboot recovery". wait for phone to reboot into clockwork. on the phone, make a backup, wipe data/cache/dalvik,flash the rom. when its completely finished flashing,(at the point you would normally select "reboot system now" on the phone) simply type "adb shell" then "reboot bootloader" in your command window. your phone will boot into fastboot mode, use the power button to select hboot. if the sd card is properly formatted(FAT32) and the radio is correctly named(PG05IMG.zip) hboot will find the file, unpack it,check it,then ask you if you want to update. tell it yes. reboot when its done, and enjoy. :)

also maybe i should give my bootloader speech:
flashing things in a security off bootloader is one of the most dangerous things you can do to your phone. it will not do any security checks, and will flash literally anything that you package up inside a correctly named IMG file. flashing the wrong thing,or an incomplete thing, can turn your phone into an unrecoverable paperweight.

the md5 sums are provided for good reason,so make sure you compare them(i check on the pc,then again on the phone) to the ones listed before attempting to flash the radio,or anything in hboot.

@scotty85 that's what I'm talking about, your the man.. thanks
Bro. Appreciate it.... I'm always down on learning new ways.

no prollem :) one VERY important thing i forgot to mention :o

make sure your battery is well charged,as powering the phone off,or the battery dying mid-flash are VERY,very bad and could permanently damage the phone.

ive seen some references that say at least 40%,but id say you want to wait untill your battery is at least 70%.the radio flashes quickly,so it could be lower, but develop good habits now ;) a full ruu takes a long time to unpack, check and flash

i personally charge to 100% before messing with things in hboot. IMO its not worth the risk to do it at less.
