Help Leave it on or turn it off?

Do you turn your phone off at night, like when you go to sleep or leave it on?
I've been reading this forum for several months now and I've yet to see this question come up. I'm just curious. I turn mine off.

i use the alarm clock so i leave it on and charge it at night.

i seem to have become immune to my regular alarm clock so it works awesome for me.

If you do not need the alarm clock or do not plan to receive any calls/texts, I don't see an issue with turning it off. Just remember, This phone boots up a little slow. If you need to save battery and do not want the hassle of turning this phone off (Or you need to use the alarms), Just put it in airplane mode. When it is not accessing any data, I've found this phone can last a little over 40 hours. ^^.

Turning the phone off does wonders for this phone. If your phone is acting up or lagging a lot, I have found that just turning it off for a few hours (as well as clearing cache, etc) can make a big difference.

I leave mine on to for the alarm function. Without it I would be late and lost all the time.
Became immune to normal clock alarms too.
I just got one Wed. and love it allot. I also have the HTC HD2 as my work cell and for my personal cell this is working well so far. Will see how the battery lasts that will really mean allot to me. Any tricks on making battery last longer as new or things to do to keep it holding longer better charge?

I leave it on and charge it. You should never charge it more than 3 hours... It will kill the battery! :D

I was under the impression that modern phones don't actually charge your phone once it reaches 100%, and that they don't start charging again until it has dropped significantly. Which would mean leaving it plugged wouldn't hurt the battery.

Turning the screen brightness down when lighting allows will save a bunch.

The phone came with an app called "power manager" that has five symbols, one for wifi, ome for bluetooth, one for gps, one for synch and ome for brightness. This lets you easily turn off features you arent using.

Also, disabling sound and vib when you text, if you type alot, will give a little back.

I've noticed that when I leave my phone plugged into the charger after it's reached 100 percent for too long, When I go to take it off again my battery dies faster. I do not know how to explain this myself but I've experimented again and again. Plus when I leave it on the charger over a few hours, It is hot as well. *Shrugs* :\

That is because, as Xyro said, once your battery is full, the phone stops charging. So even though the gauge says 100%, it has really been draining ever since it reached full capacity. So you take your phone off the charge at 100%, and five minutes later it says 90%, and you're like WTF? There is a great link about this in the Clear your cache! thread. On page 2, posted by Rockstarr, at the bottom of the post, there is a link that says "here is some info over how the battery works". It pretty much tells you all you need to know about the battery. Maybe somebody could move it over here. If not, everybody go read it. There will be a quiz. Lol

I have tried and tried to find where to turn off the text vobration for awhile now. Can ya tell me where it would be?

I just charged overnight with the phone off. My battery level after 10 minutes off the charger reads 97%. I can live with that. I've also turned my screen brightness down.

Settings > Language and keyboard > Android/swype/other > uncheck vibrate on keypress for all. I think this is how. If you use a third party messaging app, Check its settings as well. Should be under notification or application settings.

Dunno how i missed the "language and kb" in settings, thanks.

don't feel bad, it took me three hours to figure out how to enable my new keyboard (i didn't bother reading the messages that popped up). felt like a moron when i found that option too.

ooh, new tip!

just got out of a movie and instead of silencing i put my phone on airplane mode.
my batt was low (showed 27% when getting out of the car) but it still didn't go down much after three hours, maybe 1%.

if you don't know, the phone usually drops by about .5% an hour when it's just sitting with all services on making for roughly 250-260(tops) hrs (10 to 11 days) standby stock and 5hrs straight talk. disabling gps, sync, wifi and bt brings this to about 300 hrs (12.5 days) standby and 6-7 hrs talk.

i got way too much time on my hands....

I never turn my phone off...i wouldn't know what to do!! Lol its only been off once when it died completely but i rushed to get my charger and then when i turned it off after i changed the bootloader. I usually wait until the battery turns orange to charge it. If i know I'm going somewhere possibly out of reach of charging it then i charge it lol. I got kinda bored reading what i just wrote haha! :)

I keep my phone on for the most part. I do try to turn the phone off and do a reboot once every couple of days, but for most of the night its just on the charger and charging while on. I am immune to the normal text ring tone but the calls will wake me up, and i do use the alarm on some days, so when i really dont want calls to disturb me i put it on airplane mode. Loving the tips some people are giving on here!!!

I was going to say the same thing.

I leave my phone on, charge it at night, and use the alarm function on the phone.

When I sleep, it is like I die. When I wake up, it's like coming back to life. (yay for sleep disorders). Sometimes, it takes 5 alarms (2 phones, one loud bell clock, one buzzer clock, and a girlfriend) to get me up in the morning.

I like the fact that you can change the ringtone for the alarm on the phone, to keep you from getting used to it.

Some info about your battery.

I leave my phone on 80% of the day, I think the term is trickle charge, I don't think the phone will keep at 100%, but there will be enough to keep it in the high 90's. That's why you will not see it at 100%. How many people unplug it, and re-enable the features that they will use? Just turning on those features may drain the battery, if not done in a sensible manner.
