Root LeeDrOiD 2.3 Gingerbread Available

rowlers how do you get 1500 on quadrant? I get 1278 with LeeDroid2.2f? do you have a faster sd card or something?

My highest ever quadrant was 1472 with 2.2f, after increasing the clock speed in SetCPU and turning off 3G and wi-fi. SD card is 8gb class6 Samsung.

Its only a class 2 card, so no idea how/why I get 1550+ on quadrant -LOL.
that result is with smartass at max clock speed.

running one now...

How are people getting on with this then?

I was out of the country for most of last week, and I notice LeeDroid has released his latest ROM for the Desire.

I've caught up with the relevant thread over on XDA forums, and it seems a lot of people are suffering from the odd bug - most notably ads no longer being blocked and the 3D gallery forcing a close.

Has anybody suffered from those bugs or any others?

Are there any major differences from 2.2F?

I am hoping to get around to flashing the new ROM next week if it's relatively bug free for the majority. I'll simply return to 2.2F if it's too buggy for my liking.

Not directly related to this post..

Supposing a rooted custom Rom comes with an updated HTC Software version, say 2.29, does it affect the ability to run a RUU of a lower software version?

Meaning, normally if you are on a higher software version, the lower ver RUU will be blocked by the Hboot updater, saying it's higher version. Does that happen while running an RUU of lower software ver on a rooted higher software?

Second, does running a custom Rom based on a lower software version automatically downgrade the base software? If that is so, wont that be a good step as a preliminary to downgrading?

Most I've heard have flashed it straight over 2.2 without wiping

I wasnt talking about Froyo, but the HTC software version as such. Say if you're on 2.29 RUU, normally Android wont allow you to flash 2.06 (though both are Android 2.2). And not about custom Rom installation, but about running Ruu and unrooting in the process

Been running it for 2 days now (flashed straight over 2.2f) & have had no problems at all so far. Think most of the problems (which seemed to be mostly with the rom without apps2sd+) have been ironed out with the update.

I can confirm that. Adfree would not work with the previous version. 2.3 works just fine.

First, I would like to thank all for their contributions to this wonderful site which has helped me and everyone else alot in understanding & carrying out the rooting and flashing of a new rom. :p

I must say that I didn't get it right the first time coz I formatted the sd card using my phone under the "sd & phone storage" menu. It didn't wipe out all the contents in the sd card but I only found out about it after I had flash a rom. So it's still better to format the FAT partitian via my laptop (loaded the sd card to a card reader first) and made sure the quick format check box is unticked.

Anyway, this is my first time flashing the latest LeeDroid Rom (v2.3b) and I really love the A2SD+ feature which was what I wanted. :D Then I downloaded UM Diary from the market and it went straight to the sd card.. great... However, after rebooting, I couldn't find the widget under the "widgets" list. So I had to move the app back to phone memory and restarted my phone before I could see the widget. So I guess you can't load the widgets on homescreen unless you move them back to internal storage. I'm not sure if this is true for all widget apps or only for some. I read somewhere that with the A2SD+ feature the widgets will work even if they are on the sd card

If your widget is loaded onto the SD card (in the manage apps menu) that means you're using the functionality of Froyo A2SD not the LeeDroid based A2sd+. Widgets won't work properly off the standard (non '+') A2SD. The 2 systems work in different ways. What you need to do is move all your apps to the phone and let the rom do its work - in essence fooling the phone into thinking you have a lot more internal memory than it has.

Thanks for your explanation. I guess I was confused. When I saw the downloaded app in the sd card section (under manage applications), I thought it had gone to the 512mb Ext 3 partition of the sd card, lol..:D

Now I understand that the phone is treating this partition as internal memory and have moved the downloaded apps to phone instead. This can be confirmed with Quick System Info (A2SD Storage). Thanks Dan for recommending this useful app and the partitioning instructions in your Apps2SD+ faq thread. :)

I see LeeDroid 2.3a is now up! Got a few fixes and can be flashed over 2.3.

Check the XDA thread..

[FroYo Sense] LeeDrOiD V2.3a (14/12 l Official l OC&UV l FAST l STABLE l WWE) - xda-developers

I'm going to flash 2.3 over 2.2f without a wipe, let's see what happens.....

EDIT: OK, flashed LeeDroid 2.3 over 2.2f without wipe, rebooted, flashed the 2.3a patch, rebooted, and everything seems to be working exactly as it was before. All apps, settings, data etc are still there without having to restore anything from Titanium. As a precaution against SIM lock (I have an orange SIM and my Desire is ex-Orange 2.2 branded) I removed the SIM first.

The Super Circle Battery is gone so I'll need to flash that again.

All I can say it it worked for me!

I flashed 2.3 over 2.2f, then added the 2.3b update, no problems at all.

Glad to hear the people on here are not suffering from the bugs and problems that others are reporting.

How different is 2.3b to 2.2f? Can you still wake the phone by clicking the trackpad etc?

I've not actually noticed a lot of difference, but not been using the phone much in the last couple of days. Trackpad still wakes the phone.

Does anyone know how to theme Leedroid 2.3b??

Not got a clue I know to use the online kitchen but am generally clueless

Thanks for the help !

Is it worth upgrading from 2.2f then, what is the difference?

Can I flash 2.3b without doin 2.3 then the patch, then b?

^^^And can I use the kitchen with it, as above post?^^^

Hi guys, have upgraded to the latest LD2.3b ROM and seems to be working well. Unfortunately the modding bug is very infectious, and I am wondering if it is safe to ugrade to the latest radio (32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27), or should I continue with the original (32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2) that was in my Desire HTC 2.2 froyo ROM
Anyone with latest radio on Leedroid????;)
