Root LeeDroid - experience so far

Right guys... think I'm gonna go for it with LeeDroid! Just got my phone on to charge and am about to start looking at his website!

Good man.

Let me know if you experience battery issues. I went out for an hour there and lost 10% on 3G whilst the phone was in my pocket doing nothing.

Erm... just a little confused at the download stage... not good when you can't even download it!

It is saying, when I select download from his site, that it should download via utortent, but I don't have utorrent and, unless I really have to, don't wanna download it - already got far too much crap on my laptop!

having another issue... the version of WINRAR I have doesn't work any more!

Just trying to sort that out at the moment!

I downloaded 3.2.1 through rom manager, which went flawlessly. But he's updated the kernel and I now have a rom manager notification which I can't get rid off. When I click on it the only options are to download. Ok, or cancel, but the notification remains. Anyone any idea how to get rid of it without downloading it.

Isn't there an option for update notifications in the premium version? Do you have it enabled?

Winzip is also free and a component of Windows :p

What do you need to extract for anyway? Just download the zip and flash via clockwork.

Yeah... I know I don't need to extract, but it's tried to download with WINRAR.

I'll get on downloading one of the otehr programs... always good to have one anyway!

I know that the Kernel is included in the ROM, but why is there an option to download the Kernels on Lee's page?

Is it if you only want to update the Kernel that you download that?

EDIT - also... which version of the radio should I be downloading? They all appear to have the same name, but there appear to be several copies!

EDIT EDIT - while I'm downloading the ROM, I've found that it says ".zip.part" - that doesn't mean that it is part 1 of 2 or anythning does it?

You'd think I'd be a bit surer about this sort of thing by now! Just wanna make sure that I don't screw it (although I know to backup beforehand)!

There are 2 Kernels, BFS (Brain f**k scheduler) and CFS (Completley Fair Scheduler). It's BFS which is included in the ROM and from what I've read, it's a kind of beta kernel. The CFS is there for those having issues with BFS.

As for the radios, I've not touched and probably won't unless he says it's 100% necessary.

The part thing too, is that the file fully downloaded? How big is it?

Did you bother with the radio? I think I might leave it for now... can always look at sorting it later!

As for the zip - it's just over 254MB... think that's the full thing, isn't it?

EDIT - got it off his website, so I guess it is!

EDIT EDIT - actually only 248MB (but that's what it was on his website) and I've stopped being such a wimp about it... my phone's all charged and I'm just about to go for it!!

Cheers Xyro, Found & unticked. It hasn't got rid of the current notification but I can live with it until I do the update, prob at weekend.

I did that with one of the add ons yesterday, a reboot made it go away.

Thanks El P, I wiped the batt stats last night so want to leave the phone to run down with any reboots ( not sure if reboots make any diff ). So hopefully when it shuts down some time tomorrow it will not re-appear

Hey guys,

I just rooted (first time) and flashed to lastest version of Leedroid today. Everything went smoothly... I followed the guide posted by El P with links to the xda forums, etc.

First impressions are that it is a little laggy..

But my main problem is that I can no longer download any apps from the Market (i.e. the apps I had previous to rooting the device). It has downloaded a few such as Gmail, Youtube, Facebook, etc... but everytime i try to download anything else it gets stuck on 'starting download' or a download bar with no progress. Then on occasion, it freezes and force closes...

A notification just came up on the top of my screen saying it was trying to download 127 apps.... but that has disappeared now.

I tried clearing the app data from the Google Talk app as well as the Market App in Manage Application - didnt work. Anyone have any ideas?

UPDATE: (More Info) When I log into the Market on my PC, it lists all the apps I previously had as Installed.

It will be a little laggy because it's trying to download all your apps again along with all the data it had synched to your google account. It will be like that for the first 2-3 reboots, once it's fully synced, it should run with no problems at all :)

For your market issues, with a file manager (Astro/ES File Explorer), or by attaching the phone to the PC and mounting as a disk drive, delete the folders on your SD Card called android_secure and LOST.DIR, then reboot. That should clear the problem. If not, let us know and we'll see what else we can try.

Have to say this latest non call record bfs kernel and the latest rom are awesome on the battery life :D
