Root Let's Get CM Onto Avant!

Cool, looks like the current image doesn't have the bug I'm experiencing with scribd that the stock image does. Makes me even more excited for the next release.

There's a pretty decent build on page 25, post number 617. Biggest bugs in that one are:
-H/W decoding being broken so Youtube or any video most likely will cause a force close of the app or a soft reboot
- Camera doesn't work either, or rather still photos don't. Video recording is fine but not photos
- and I believe someone said the proximity sensor wasn't functioning correctly either
 
when a new version comes out, will I have to reinstall all my apps and settings and stuff again? or can I flash over the old version?

You can most definitely flash over the old version. As long as you delete system, cache, and Dalvik cache before flashing the newest build and Gapps you should have no problems.

Most of the time you don't even have to do that... If its an update to the same ROM you can mostly get away with just flashing over it and rebooting.

You're right, but it's one of those things that come down to personal preference and I like playing it safe I guess lol
 
Thanks alot, I was terribly scared that I spent a week setting my lightning launcher set up and remaking all my zooper widgets

No problem, but if you're that worried about losing your app setup aren't you better off backing those up? Try helium or titanium backup.
 
about backups, nandroid is the best right? you get a complete image of your system and all other files? I'm trying to learn how to use it (nandroid manager and online nandroid) anybody got words of wisdom? If so I may hit you with a few questions.

One thing I have learned is that usually when Dm47021 goes silent it means he is hard at work fixing bugs . It is not unusual for him to dissapear for weeks and then show up with a new version with tons of bug fixes. Silence is good. As far as j03lpr86 and the others who have been working on this go, I have no idea. I'm confident that we will get an update once progress has been made.

Alright. I was just a little worried since things have been... Very quiet around here.

Ive just been head over heels with work. Hopefully by this week i can be back on track. I haven't forgotten about anything just yet... :P
 
i think what he is trying to say is, if you had read the thread you would know that this is a work in process and that doesnt work and hasnt been fixed yet. just sayin

More like WiFi calling isn't even a feature of CM because it's very carrier specific and tmobile isn't even forking over what devs need to make mms work on third party sms apps. Nothing to do at all with the fact that this is a work in progress.
