Root Let's Get CM Onto Avant!

Getting ready to switch back to CM. Are there any tweaks or recommendations for apps, etc... To make it any better or faster. Amazing work so far, can't wait to get back off stock. Needed the camera for pictures

Can you give me the stock rom zip I forgot to backup so I'm stuck with cm INEEd YouTube to work properly most YouTube bids don't work

I know this is really off topic and I should probably start another thread, but I just had a quick question. I've seen on a couple of sites that the Avant is supposedly scheduled to get a software update to Lollipop in Q2 this year, any thoughts?

Cell phone manufacturers have a bad habit of promising big updates for budget phones and then going back on their word around the same time that they discontinue them.

If your phone is rooted, you won't get the update prompt.

Yeah you're probably right, I wouldn't mind giving Lollipop TW a try though. Just as a side note, LG gave the L90 Lollipop today. If Samsung were to update a midrange phone like LG I would think it would be the Avant. But that probably won't happen lol

What cm version are you using? Last I checked cameras and video was broken.

They are, I'm pretty sure he's saying he had to go back to stock because he needed the camera to work, and now he's coming back to CM. Which by the way is so much smoother than stock
 
Well some video works and camcorder works plus front camera works for pics so it's not to bad because as you said there is a performance boot switching alone

It's definitely not bad lol the current build is really stable and those bugs I can live with for the time being. In fact I'm on CM right now, jus can't stay away lol
 
Oh because I had massive problems with it, it was very buggy, was just curious if there was a different build that I didn't know about or something

Massive as in it was unusable?? That's odd because really the only big bugs there are are H/W decoding and the camera....and the proximity sensor doesn't work but that's it.
 
Anyone ever figure out why the battery is crap with this new CM ROM? I talked about it a while ago but I really want to know why the battery is so crap. I've been using it for a few months now, and my battery doesn't last half as long as when on the stock ROM. I guess fast and smooth comes at a price
 
Really, people are really using it as a daily driver? Maybe its just me but I want all the features of a phone that I pay for to work, I had problems with apps crashing, random reboots, no rear camera, and no video, tried it out for around 1 day and got so frustrated that I went back to stock.

Well like a lot of things it's personal preference as well as for the sake of reporting bugs or similar purposes. Not to mention most of us only have the video and camera not working, personally I can live without those for now and most on here do.
 
It will, but it's much easier if you use the "Avant Exploded" app from the play store, you can flash TWRP, CWM, and even back to the stock recovery if you need to for whatever reason.
