Lets see your internet speed!

all of the broadband speed test sites I visited say they require Flash, what am I missing? I have a Moto Droid w/2.1

At work, it is about an order of magnitude less. There have even been news articles about how craptastic it is...
 
I dunno, I was about to start burning cars because they promised me 35/35. FiOS is supposed to be really fast like that.

Damned Verizon! My husband stayed my hand because I was downloading some software for work at the time. I was only getting 1.75MB/s on that. It doesn't explain where the rest of my DL speed went and it doesn't explain the upload either. I guess I have something to troubleshoot (other than the stuff I usually break.)

Unless your footing out thousands a month for a dedicated t3 line, your not gauranteed anything. Hell they could advertise 50mbitps and as long as they deliver that to the node, and you only say get 2mbitps most of the day, you still can't complain. Well you can, but you have no legal standing.also, there is a difference between Mbps and MB/S

Also, just a quick comparision 8 Mbps = 1 MB/s. So in reality, your connection speed is around 4MB/s

I'm not even sure what to think about the second one myself but I get the same number from a few different sites. Campus internet is ridiculous...

Haha you must be at Tech, right? like I said, it's the source of the internet for the entire southeast...

I was just going to say, I'm going to post a speedtest from my school when I get back on Tuesday. We easily get 200mbps+ down, but a measly 3mbps up... School doesn't want us uploading anything I guess. Schools always have crazy fast internet, but I'd guess it's because there are 10,000+ people on it at all times.
 
They are lying. They must have found some way to make this display 10 times the amount of throughput because it took almost 15 seconds to display this image!


I think our IT department is trying to pretend that we don't have banks of dialup modems as our connection to the outside.
 
so I'm taking it one must have a rooted phone or similar to be able to get these internet speed tests to work? when I go to the sites it just informs me that I need Flash...
