I lost my Moto Droid last night. Pretty sure I left it on top of my car and drove off, Regardless someone found it and kept it on.

So if YOU found a Droid in the gas station or bar, would you

A: Return the phone to the rightful owner.
B: SOL buddy, I got me a new phone.
C: Leave it there.

Being a droid owner, I would try and return the phone.

EDIT: Lol ok so you guys are right, everyone here is ganna say they would return it because we are all droid users.

After i made this pole i got a phone call from the police...they found my wallet in the middle of the road. So i went back an looked for my phone. I found it. In pieces lol....Best Buy warranty covered it so i got a new moto droid on the way. The Funniest part is I called Verizon before all that happened, and they set me up with a Droid X for 200 bucks. So i just got 2 droids for 200 bucks and found my wallet with everything in it. Wow im lucky... DRROOIIIIIDDDD

BUT IF I FOUND AN IPHONE....we wont go there. Or will we?

You can actually make this a proper poll if you want. I would see if there was a way to contact the owner or just take it back to a Verizon store, myself.

With CDMA phones, there is really no point in stealing it as the ESN will be black listed when it's reported stolen, not to mention it's a messed up thing to do in the first place.

There are several applications that let you track your phone's location to within a few feet using GPS if the person who stole it is stupid enough to leave it turned on (Mobile Defense, Lookout). You should consider getting one of those in future.

I'd try my best to find out if it belongs to anyone in the area, if not, I'd contact Verizon and send it back to them.. Its not only the right thing to do, but I don't need bad karma sneaking up on me and biting me in the ass.

Yeah, but alot of these phones now can double as mp3 players, cameras, and so on and so forth.. Alot of people wouldn't even care if they couldn't make calls on it or not and probably wouldn't return it.. just saying

I did find a phone once and was quickly able to determine the owner and how to contact them to return the phone, which I did.
I would always make an attempt to return the phone as that's the right thing to do.

I found a phone before as well. I called one of the contacts and let them know I found this person's phone and was able to get the phone back to them via this method (the person I called gave me an alternate number for the person).

Seing as how I already have one, I would return it. Even if I didnt have one I would still return it. Its just the right thing to do.

^ i agree already have one but if i lost mine id hope someone returned mine.
but let karma take its place

"Screw you, buddy. It's mine now!"

Dude, I'm sorry you lost your phone, but what do you think anyone who opens this thread is gonna say (write)- especially after having read about your ordeal in the other thread?
Nobody here would be that much of an asshole as to admit they would keep a Droid they found! But in no way what so ever is this poll is an accurate reflection of what the majority of folks out in the world would actually do in that scenerio.
In other words, of course we would all turn in a Droid- We're all Droid enthusiasts! We would best be able to imagine the feeling of loss. But let's face reality; the world is full of scumbags.
Your Droid needs to be replaced.

If i found a droid i'd do everything possible as quickly as possible to get it back to it's owner or notify them as quickly as possible. I say this, because i know what i have installed on my phone, and i feel bad for the mofo that steels mine and thinks he's keeping it!

You have the Decapitator Bomb App?!!
Where did you get that? I can't find it anywhere!:D

Well, having lost things of value before and wishing that whoever found them/stole them would have been kind enough to return them to me, I would definitely find the owner. If you know who the owner is, even if you just found the item rather than breaking in and taking it by force, aren't you kinda guilty of stealing it? My conscience would never let me use it!

It makes me happy to see alot of people would return it.. Just everyone would actually honor what they say.. I mean its been said once before but, what people say and what people do is 2 totally different things.

I'd return it.

I have found 3 cell phones, uncountable jump drives, and who knows what else in my life - all returned to rightful owner, or else placed with L&F so rightful owner can find it.

I totally agree with Psycokitty. I like my Droid so much that I would make sure that the phone that I found made it to its owner, but the world is full of scumbags. If that happens to you, feel free to believe in your fellow man, but make sure that you activate that remote app that wipes your Droid once you know it is out of your control.

Honesltly in this day and age and with all the Droid's tracking apps available, most people would be smarter than to take a Droid they found o.O
Perhaps you should phrase the question "If you find a Droid and there's absolutely no chance of you being caught, would you take it?" Either way I wouldn't take it, I would check the contacts and try to call the owner of the phone. o.O

Like there's a single tracking app that'll survive a root-wipe-flash process?

I voted SOL for shit and giggles. What is with people leaving their phones on top of their bloody cars? Left in a pocket, at a bar, whatever I can get. But the top of your vehicle?

I think both you guys are suggesting that a moron that would keep a new found Droid would even know what the hell Android is or how it works, let alone how to wipe it.
Out of the 100% of people who stumble upon a lost Droid, what percent would even know any of this stuff?

I don't know, the question is being asked on an Android forum, isn't it? The OP didn't ask "what would an average Joe do if he finds a Droid?"
