Let's talk cases for the HTC EVO 3D.

After a couple weeks with my Body Glove case, I am liking it. It offers protection for both the camera(s) and also the screen too. I got it from the Sprint store, couldn't tell you what it costs though, since my salesman threw it in as a freebie!

You put your E3D with an Otterbox case on it in that, and then put that in your pocket? Seems like alot of extra bulk. I started going around yesterday without a case on it and think I may keep it that way from now on. I may get the kickstand case for when I travel or something, but that will be more to keep it propped up for movies and what not.

I have noticed how sensative all of the buttons are without a case though, so that's another plus to having the case on I suppose.

These two are appealing to me. Not sure now much bulk either one adds though.

Looks like the Casemate Pop covers the speaker port. The HTC one does not.

I went and bought the Platinum case with holster and am pretty disappointed. Kept my receipt to return it when i can get a better case. The case is too slippery for my tastes but the holster is decent. I would like the HTC case and also would like a holster to use it with.

I had the the Innocase and later bought the Seidio for my 3GS back then and loved it. Turned around and got one for my Nexus One and was happy but the holster spring clip snapped.

I looked at the Casemate line too.

So now I'm looking at Casemate, Seidio, and the HTC case. Choices....

To be honest, I like the rubbery pistol grip of the white one, and the sturdiness of the metal stand on the black one... But like you said, if the speaker is covered, then I'd rather take my chances with the HTC case.

Any word when either of these will become available?

I like my purple Body Glove case with the kickstand for now, but after a while, it'll be time to switch up to a big boy case, like one of those.

The white one is already available. The HTC one is coming out sometime this month.

I hope the HTC case will be available at Best Buy, so I can use my gift card to buy it. If not, I'll use it to get the newly released extended version of the LOTR 15 disc trilogy.

I'm beginning to get a little worried about the official kickstand case. There hasn't been ANY information about the case since it's initial announcement. Sprint has listed all accessories for the 3VO on their site, and the case is no where to be found. I'd love to have a kickstand on my case, but all the current options are crap.

It finally showed up on Amazon but says temporarily out of stock. What surprises me is the price point, $39.99. No way do I pay that much for this thing.

Hopefully this price point changes but this could be an indication that it is getting close.

Well I hope that picture is wrong. I am still hoping for a replacement battery cover, rather than a whole (bulky) case.

That's not going to happen. The entire reason they didn't put it in the case to begin with is that it's not structurally sound. The case has to be thick enough, to support the phone with the kickstand out.

Besides, I WANT the case--the entire point is that it protects the phone, and keeps the camera from laying against the surface of whatever you set the phone on. One piece, easily removed for the car dock, and a reversible kickstand. All with what looks like the same texture on the back of the case that is on the phone (which I really miss that texture, having a PT case right now).

I'll take the official case over a new battery cover every day. But that's my preference. You have yours, and, officially, as of now, it's not coming. There will no doubt be a 3rd party cover, though, at some point.

How would it not be structurally sound? I disagree. I am pretty sure a kickstand on a battery cover would be structurally sound. The battery cover that is on there right now is thick enough to support the phone.

Is it written somewhere that it officially won't be a battery cover? When you say it is officially not coming, that leads me to believe that either HTC or Sprint confirmed this somewhere...

It's not official, but it does look bulkier than a simple battery cover
It definitely looks bulky. But that is the same picture we have had since the Evo 3D was first announced. I'm hoping they changed it since then (and I am pretty sure I remember reading some Sprint rep say it would change and it could be just a battery cover).

Fingers crossed...

Actually, the pics that were first shown of the case had the case being much thinner... almost looked like it could be a cover.

The more recent pictures, though, with the reversible kickstand, make the case clearly much thicker.

Uh, no. The original pictures look exactly like that. See this thread:

This was 6.95 with shipping. I am not a fan of the silicon cases but the screen protector does not dull the screen at all. Its also slicker and makes it easier to swipe.

I love this small case especially for the price. you have access to every button and it snaps one and you can easily take it off with a dime. It doesnt cover the speaker, its slightly rubberized, its just thick enough so when you lay it down the cameras are held off flat surfaces but keeps the phone small and slim so it is not a brick in your pocket. It has protection on all corners and edges. $5.42 with shipping

Now this is a pic of a different case but I cant tell any difference but this is how it snaps on.

Androinica HTC EVO 3D has no kickstand because of design issues; case will prop-up phone [Photos]

Uh, yeah. If you don't see the physical differences between:

and

then I don't really know what to tell you. The second image, which is what the official kickstand case is, and will be in stores, is very much thicker than the original prototype shown back in March, and is very clearly a case that attaches to the phone. I really can't break it down any more than that.

Well of course I see a physical difference. The kickstand is going the other way and there is some etching on the back. But I don't see it being any thicker, no. And I also see the first one as very clearly being a case.

Anyway, you said it was "official" that it wasn't a battery cover. I guess to you "official" means "my own best guess" and that is what I was trying to clear up.

When it hits stores, or Sprint or HTC announces it- or even posts an "official" picture, then we'll know. But right now none of us know for sure, so I am still holding out hope.
