Let's talk cases for the HTC EVO 3D.

My friend got the Casemate Pop and didn't like it and is sending it back. She said it was hard to get off and the back was coming off of the phone and the kickstand wasn't the best. Others may like it but I was going to get it too now I decided to wait. I guess I'll do Seidio or wait for the HTC one.

I kind of agree with that assessment, only not at all to the detriment of the case. It is a bit difficult to get back out of the case, for sure, but the case feels so damn secure when it is on the phone, that, frankly, I don't mind one bit. It isn't like you can't take it off, it just takes a few extra seconds.

As for the kickstand, it is okay. The Evo 4G spoiled me a bit and this is a plastic piece, so it doesn't feel as good as the Evo 4G kickstand. That said, it is FAR superior to the kickstand that comes on the case sold at Best Buy (platinum case, perhaps? It is $35 there). It isn't flimsy, holds the phone just fine, has little rubber tips on the corners for grip, and it will hold the phone up in portrait mode, which I like.

The case fits extremely snug and feels more like a part of the phone than any other case I have ever used. The back, top, and bottom are all hard plastic, while the sides are a grippy rubber. The rubber sides wrap slightly around the back and are just a tad taller than the hard plastic, meaning you don't set the phone on the gloss black plastic you lay it on flat surfaces.

The speaker is covered, though, and I'm being honest, I haven't noticed a drop in sound level or quality. I don't think it lays flush against the speaker, so that probably helps. That said, I don't use mine too often, so take that in to consideration if you are really concerned about using your speaker frequently.

I got it shipped for $22 off of Amazon. I would give it a 8.5/10 and would recommend it to anyone.

Does it fit on the phone without the battery cover? Maybe removing the battery cover would make the speaker even louder? I guess I don't see the point in a battery cover if the case totally covers it and fits so tight you almost can't take it off.

This was 6.95 with shipping. I am not a fan of the silicon cases but the screen protector does not dull the screen at all. Its also slicker and makes it easier to swipe.

I love this small case especially for the price. you have access to every button and it snaps one and you can easily take it off with a dime. It doesnt cover the speaker, its slightly rubberized, its just thick enough so when you lay it down the cameras are held off flat surfaces but keeps the phone small and slim so it is not a brick in your pocket. It has protection on all corners and edges. $5.42 with shipping

Now this is a pic of a different case but I cant tell any difference but this is how it snaps on.

This might be worth getting just for the screen protectors.

according to their facebook site trident is looking to come out with something at the beginning of august. hopefully both the kraken and the cyclops considering im not sure which one i want

I also ordered this case and had a few concerns, but you did a pretty good job of alleviating them. Thanks! I'm not too worried about my speaker volume, though. After installing the equalizer, I've actually turned down my notification setting to 50%, it was really loud.

I got the Pop Case today to test it.

It is a great case and fits like a glove.

HOWEVER, it is almost impossible to take it off. The battery cover starts to come off. I was affraid i was going to break the battery cover.

Its a great case if you plan on leaving it on and never taking it off.

Does it fit without the battery cover? Any negatives to using it without the battery cover?

Unless you make an addition, your power button and volume rocker will not likely work. Try pushing your power button without the battery cover on. It's tough to do.

I would also be concerned with the battery being too loose in the compartment and may cause unexpected power loss.

Yeah i dont think it will work without the battery cover.

Dont get me wrong its a great case and fits better then any case so far I have used. But, the fact that its impossible to take off was the deal breaker for me.

Just out of curiosity, what is your minimum expectation for time required to remove a case? I can have this off in about 10- 12 seconds for those very rare occasions that I need to remove it.

I got the PT case from best buy. It was 35$ It has a soft rubber inner and a hard skeleton that wraps it up nicely. Great case, almost like the commuter otterbox. They only had the defender and no thanks on that. It protects the camera lense and doesn't add too much bulk tot he phone and feels great in the hands.

Took me a good 2 minutes to get the case off.

It was on so good that when i tried to take it off the battery cover was coming off too.

Good case should come off in 5-10 seconds tops

Difference of opinion, I suppose. So long as I don't need any tools and I can do it in less than half a minute, "case removal" doesn't register very high on my priority list and I've never thought to compare removal times between cases as a quality benchmark.

I took it as a necessary side effect for the very snug and sturdy feeling when the case is on.

Does anyone know if the following case is real:

Amazon.com: HTC 70H00430-00M Hard Shell with Kickstand for HTC EVO 3D - 1 Pack - Bulk Packaging - Black: Cell Phones & Accessories

It looks great and I've seen it on a few websites but none have any in stock....any idea if or when it's coming out?

Supposedly it is real though no one has actually seen it but pictures. It is also supposedly the official HTC case and is supposed to be released sometime in July. I think there are a number of people waiting for that to happen. I am looking at that case as well (especially since Amazon dropped the price to $25) but i would really like to see a picture of it from the front. This is the only picture I have seen and it is kind of hard to tell how much protection it will have.

I'm getting frustrated with cases. I got the OtterBox Commuter and I love it. But figuring out a pouch to pocket the phone with the additional bulk of the Commuter is next to impossible. I tried a thin microfiber bag and a thicker portable hard drive pouch. The microfiber bag was too thin and hard to remove from the bag. The thick neoprene portable hard drive pouch is too large in my pocket.

I wish OtterBox would sell ridged pouches for their cases. I don't want to carry my phone on my belt and I don't want to carry it in my pocket with just the Commuter on it alone.

I don't know what to do... I need a ridged pouch designed for the OtterBox Commuter for the Evo3D is what I need, and that's not going to happen... *sigh*/*frustrated*

I'm now looking for a golla bag (or similar product) that I can clip to my backpack or belt loop with a carabiner. Wish me luck!

I never use a case. Full body zagg and then the phone goes in my pocket without a pouch or case. The only reason I am looking for a case right now is because I want a kickstand.

I have the Commuter and the Zagg screen protector. Nothing really stopping me from pocketing the phone without a bag/pouch other than paranoia lol :o

If you have a zagg on the front, and a case on the sides and back, I don't see what a pouch would do for you, lol. Just pocket that thing.
