Let's talk cases for the HTC EVO 3D.

FYI I have the HTC EVO 3D Commuter case and dropped my phone pretty much flat on the ground (screen down). Because of it's loose fit three corners of my phone are scrapped up pretty good and their are two tiny scratches on my screen at the corners (maybe even fractures). Thanks Otterbox!

I have an EVO 3D, and bought the extended 4000mAh battery and the SURFACE case from SEIDIO, and really enjoy the way it fits and the extra talk time that the extended battery gives me. I was hoping that they would come out with a KICKSTAND version of the SURFACE cas that would fit over the extended battery and back door. I sent a request to Seidio, but I don't think they are going to have a case to fit...am wondering if any after-market companies can help with a light case that has a kickstand and fit over the extended backdoor/battery.

I don't mind the extra bulkiness...but the kickstand would be a blessing.:(:(

I got the Otterbox Defender I think I'm going to return it and get myself the Ballistic. From reading about previous case reviews on other phones it appears not to have all the negatives.. the case on Otterbox comes to a point at the ear piece, the screen is restricted quite a bit for typing at the edges of the screen, and the holster clip that doubles as a kickstand the clip that holds it open breaks easily as well as poorly designed so it catches open when trying to put it on your belt. And the holster is not solid black plastic so gets scuffed way easily which requires black marker or that to cover up.

The Ballistic comes with a kickstand which is much better in practicality.

I bought this case for my phone and I love it. It's simple and it looks pretty cool and it feels good too! :D I couldn't find it in the US, so I had to get it from a seller in China.

Yeah, I purchased that for $2.95 last week. I still think I like my plain TPU better, but it's a good buy. Coming from Hong Kong, it was also rather quick.

Just a little curious about the Otterbox Defender. I currently have the Otterbox Commuter, and am fairly happy with it. At first it was too bulky for me, but I have gotten used to it. My question is, I have already put the screen protector that came with the Commuter, onto my phone. Since the Defender has a built-in screen protector, will I have to remove the existing screen protector first? Will it mess with the touch screen capabilities to have both protectors on there? If not, I would prefer to keep the existing screen protector, so that if I take it out of the Defender, it will still have the screen protected.

You can remove the screen protector from the Defender, it is in with what appears to be something similar to rubber cement.

That said, I am getting rid of my Defender, the ridge at the speaker is very uncomfortable, Otterbox did not think the ergonomics through on this one.

What seems to be the deal with the Ballistic case? And why is it not available yet?

The EVO 3D has been out now for well over a month.
Very good question. With HTC scrapping their kickstand case, the Ballistic is probably the next in line on my list. Either that or the Sedio. I'd hate to buy the Sedio and then have the Ballistic come out a week or 2 later and be way better.

Wonder if the kickstand case here is any good there's 3 colors.

But the Seidio you can do Portrait and Landscape and I heard even charge it while kickstand is open.

When I last contacted Ballistic I was told September. Below is a copy of the email I received when I inquired.

Good morning/afternoon Jeff,

I have only heard that we are expecting the SG case to be released 2 to 3rd week in August.

The HC case should be released 2 week in September.

I apologize for the inconvenience.

Should it become available sooner I will let you know.

Thank you,
Terry

I can do that now with my Body Glove case. It works in three different positions. I asked Seidio if they're coming out with a kickstand for their extended battery case, but they said it might be a month or so. That's disappointing news, because I already ordered both the 4000mah battery and case. I may end up fabricating my own kickstand by splicing the two cases together for now. I'll let you know how it turns out when I get around to doing it.

So far I've spent around $350 on accessories for this phone already, and I don't even have any feature-length 3D movies yet. Go figure.

I haven't spent a lot yet because I am still waiting on my replacement phone, three weeks now. Its on back order supposedly, sounds strange to me.

I just love my Body Glove case with belt clip that I used with my HTC Hero - it has protected my phone SO well - it's just fantastic. Now I have the new Evo 3D, I'm looking for a good protective case with a belt clip - but seems that the Otterbox Defender is about the only decent one out there. Hurry up Body Glove - make a case with belt clip for the Evo 3d PLEASE!

That is strange... When my dedicated camera button went out on me within 4 days of owning it, I went straight back to the Sprint store I bought it from and they replaced it in less than an hour, no questions asked. Any Sprint store should be able to do that for you. Technically, it's all up to the technician to make that decision on whether or not it's repairable or replaceable. In your case, he/she might of thought they were saving Sprint some money by getting you a refurbished one instead of cracking open a brand new one that could be set aside for a potential new customer. Makes sense, but at what cost to their existing customers...

I did it all online. I was within the 30 days so they said they would send a new one right out. When I called a week later looking for it they said it was on backorder.

That IS pretty messed up. Understandably it is a popular phone, my suggestion would be to find your nearest Sprint store and deal with them face to face, if at all possible. Explain your situation so that they can go into their system, cancel the phone on order, and give you one on the spot. I mean, if I'm making monthly payments for something that I don't have, then I'd be raising hell.

It took Ballistic like 4 months with the 4G. It's coming in August. The HC case was the best case for the 4G hands down. I'm holding out for it as I am not impressed with Otterbox.

I just got my Seidio Surace Kickstand case today.

Great case. Very sturdy kickstand and the case fits like a glove. Fits better then the Platinum cases Best Buy is selling.

Also it is the same exact thickness as the regular Surface case except for a little bump where the kickstand is.

Definetly would recomend this case.

I literally just got my 4000mah Seidio battery and case ten minutes ago, and put it on the phone. And I have to say that this sucker feels goooooooooood in my hand. I've never felt a more solid phone in my life. My only gripe is that it doesn't have a kickstand, but I'm sure that with a little fabricating, I can come up with something. I'm thinking somewhere at the bottom of the case, where that little bit of extra space is just below the battery...

Is that the purple one Sprint was selling? I may pick one of those up to try it. Is it easy to get case off and on. I want the Seidio when it comes in more colors.

That's the very same one... Unfortunately, that was the only case they had when the phone came out. I was literally paying for the phone at the time (release date), and they had cases for it at the counter. The other colors (fushia & yellow) weren't masculine enough, so I chose the lesser of the three evils. Besides, the Body Glove was the only case Sprint carried that had a kickstand. Come to find out a couple of weeks later, a few other manufactures started to trickle in their own kickstand-ready cases.

But by this time, I was starting to feel the strain of using my 3DVO for hours on end, and having the battery get soft on me after playing 3 straight hours of Angry Bird. So it got me thinking that rather than just settle for yet another case and have the same battery problem, why not take it up a notch and buy the extended battery and case. I've heard great reviews on the Seidio 4000mah, and the case was pretty decent too, so why not. The only two drawbacks about the case is that the skeleton surrounding the silicon isn't metal, and that it doesn't come with a kickstand.

I brought up the point to Seidio that if they're selling an oversized battery to help prolong and extend the usage of the 3DVO, wouldn't it make sense to produce a case that helps support the device upright. So rather than pissing off customers with an all new extended battery case with a kickstand, which according to them should be made available in the coming month, I'd love to see them take advantage of their plastic skeleton cage and replace it with a metal one with a sturdy and/or collapsable kickstand incorporated on it somehow. That way, existing customers of the extended battery case aren't buying yet another case, but rather upgrading the skeleton cage for one with the optional kickstand... For a cheaper price of course. That would make the most sense. Especially if they want repeat customers.

I just got a 20% off Sedio coupon in the mail. My friend just got his kickstand case from them today I need to see how he likes it. I may go into Sprint tomorrow and look at the purple one again. I almost got it on launch day but didn't like how it left open the top and bottom on the front. I do know I really love the dock Seidio sent me to review and I posted it earlier today.
