Let's talk cases for the HTC EVO 3D.

When I purchased my 3d about 2 weeks ago ended up choosing the otterbox commuter (before they started the 3d with commuter special of course :/) been serving its purpose very well my only complaint makes the phone feel bulky since I'm use to the galaxy series without cases

Im been a iphone user for a long time and changing my iphone for an evo 3d. I want to get a case before i get the phone. i currently want to get a ballistic SG case the HC isnt out yet if not i would get that.
But to my question. i want to buy a case like the ballistic one with the same material.

There is a full thread on this already, I will merge your thread with it, it will best serve you, bunch of info in there for you to decide. ;)

I've had two OtterBox belt clips break in the two months I've had my EVO 3D. Both instances seem unavoidable - just hung it on the door going through a doorway, the other caught on the chair armrest when sitting down. This is going to be more $$expensive$$ than my Sprint Plan!

Anyone know of another good (or better) phone protector box with a belt clip? Preferably a belt clip that either will not break, or will "break-away" without permenantly ruining the darn box.

----- Well, in my research for a "better" box, a sales person informed me OtterBox stands behind their product very well and suggested I give them a call under the Warranty. I did. Explained what had happened and they took care of it right away and shipped me a new OtterBox under warranty -- without question. They may not be the cheapest, but like the friendly sales person said, any of the cell phone belt clips are susceptable to breaking when you sit down in one of those narrow (coach) airline seats!

One call to the support number from their web site took care of it. This may help someone else who has had this problem.

I hav nothing but good things to say about OtterBox cases and especially their support. I bought a defender for my Evo3D. Fit great and worked great. Not long after I got it, some dust got between the built in screen protector. It Ended up. Causing. An inch long smudge. Called support and they shipped me a whole new case, no questions asked. Received it 2 or 3 days later. Then just a couple weeks ago, I snapped the clip off while getting out of the car. Totally my fault. I explained exactly what happened. Didn't matter. A. Replacements shipped out the same. Day

Does anyone know if Otterbox has fixed the stretching issues with its Commuter case? Thanks

Not as of Christmas time. The worst part is that you mention it to the store employees at sprint store that it is a known issue and they act like you have 4 heads. I had a debate with one employee regarding this and just ended up switching it due to dissatisfaction. I now have a Seido Active case and would not go back to Otterbox if you paid me.

I bought 3 3D's recently, all got different cases.
Mine - Seidio Active. - Nice case, I wish it had more rubber gripping on the back of it to avoid sliding more. It has enough that small forces wont move it, but larger forces will slide it, like slamming on the brakes.
My Son's - Otterbox Defender - huge case
My Wife - Otterbox Commuter Pink - fits great, looks perty for her.

Wow, just... Wow. Still nothing from Seidio on an extended battery kickstand case after all this time.

I have to say that I'm gravely disappointed by their lack of customer inquiry involvement in this forum. Seems like they only pick and choose which questions they want to answer... Not cool.

At this point, I wouldn't expect anything new. The device is 9 months old, after all. I did try to modify a Casemate Pop case to fit an extended battery, but I would have to weaken the case so much that it wouldn't be worth it.

Bump, lets bring this thread back to life, since the device is over a year old, wonder if anyone has a new case suggestions, I know I am looking for a good light weight aluminum case, any suggestions. Found a few on eBay, but not too impressed.

I currently have the HTC Evo 3D/HTC Evo V 4G and I'm looking to buy a good protective case. I would prefer one that has a built-in case screen protector with it but if there's a case that is better than one with a built-in I'd get that one. There are a few names I've been looking into getting but there's not a lot of comparison sites/videos or reviews on them. The one's I've been considering are: Otterbox Defender series, Otterbox Commute Series, POP! Case by Casemate, the SURFACE Seido Combo case, Ballistic Hardcore case, and Aegis Series Protective Case w/ Screen Protector by Trident. The one I'm basically deciding from is the Otterbox (both Commute and Defender), Ballistic HC, and the Aegis case but I added the others for all I know is that they may be better.

It depends on how you feel about the size of your phone. My personal preference is for the Otterbox Defender. I have loved it since I got it right after release. Their support is second to none. The Commuter isn't bad, per se, though a bunch of people had issues with the rubber not fitting the phone quite right, or stretching. You can see other posts about it. I can't really speak for any of the others, as I have only had the Commuter and Defender cases.

The Defender will add quite a bit to the bulk of your phone. If you plan to use the phone in most docks, be aware that this case will really limit your options. I don't use a home dock, and I have a pretty good car mount that doesn't require me to remove the case. Once you put the case on, it is annoying to have to open it up again. The protection is well worth it to me though. The only caveat I have is, because the Defender has edges that are raised about 1/4" above the screen, some people have trouble tapping things that are on the edges of the screen. It gets worse if you have big fingers. Personally, it hasn't been an issue for me, but thought I would mention it just in case.

I personally don't mind how thick and bulky it is. I currently have the Sedio combo case which is just a silicon cover and a hard plastic piece that kind of spiderwebs around the phone. Which makes the phone 1CM and by itself (without the case) the phone is about .5CM or 1/2CM so doubling the side of the phone. I've been looking between phones and now I'm deciding mostly between the Trident series. I am just wondering if there's a significant difference between a built-in screen protector like they have in the Kraken and Cyclops and the re-applicable screen protector (like ZAPP's or the one that comes with the Aegis case), because besides the obvious price difference would the Cyclops/Kraken have more protection than the Aegis?

A. I want to know what case would be better Cyclops or Aegis.
B. Is there a significant difference between a built in screen cover and a re-applicable protector?

I just got the Ballistic HC from newegg. $27 free shipping. After a year in the Otterbox, I'm much happier! Love the kickstand, and the vertical holster. I don't even use the outer silicone cover.

I got the Seidio kickstand case for the Evo 3D. It's pretty well made. The matte rubber coated parts don't feel cheap, and there's a felt lining to protect the phone's shell. The kickstand is initially very hard to deploy. You have to open/close it a few times to smooth out the friction fit stubs. I find it helps to apply some sideways pressure to help extend it. Overall, it does make the phone feel bigger but not nearly as bad as an Otterbox. Only time will tell if the matte coating holds up against scratches.

Hi all--
my first post! I have an EVO 3d from Virgin, and I bought a "Beast" brand extended battery, part # BG86110, from an amazon dealer and it is working well! However, Trexcell/TPU and Otterbox both seem to indicate they don't have cases that fit over the 3D when using the Beast battery and aftermarket beast back plate.

i've done a bit of research on this, and 1, I can't find who might be making this 'beast' brand battery, so i don't know if there's already info out there already on cases that can be cut, adapted, etc to fit, but I'd really like to know if there's anyone out there with a similar extended battery who has found a case to fit and protect. I like my 3D a lot (not really FOR the 3d, but...) and I'd like to protect it. Hopefully I won't have to just find some generic slip in case!:p

Many thanks in advance--
Sam/ TC
