LG Aristo

Can you upload a screen shot for your device manager menu while connecting the phone to the pc.
I hate windows. Im a linux user. I have a dual boot and only use windows for rooting purposes but omg its so annoying.

Here is the screenshot of the DM while the phone is connected and in fastboot mode.

Been putting up drywall all day, sorry for laye reply. Something to mention is minimal adb&fastboot. A program for windows, just download it and install, from install location (folder) hold shift right click and launch cmd. Boom fully working adb and fastboot. If you have problems with drivers and you cant seem to get em rite, just launch a bootable version of linux, tons of tutorials for that out there.
When you flashed your kdz did your aristo come up in device manager under the type "modems"? Mine is.
In download mode it always shows up under "modems" as "LGE AndroidNet USB Modem"
Also, under "ports (COM & LPT)" with a yellow triangle as "LGE AndroidNet USB Serial Port (COM3)"

But in flash tools and in lgup it just says unknown device. under the model column.

The triangle is gone away but it still says unknown device model in LGUP. :/

Sorry man. I think there MAY be a chance if there were a working official tot for this device. They, and LG Flash Tools can be manipulated to bypass some of the unknown device errors. But I haven't found one yet.

So without a working adb connection, I don't think fastboot alone is going to get you out of this jam. And LGUP is an inferior program that's limited in it's ability to work around issues like this.

Sounds like driver issue. I havent actually flashed the aristo kdz yet, havent had reason. Lookup the drivers and dl em, while device is plugged in as unknown or whatever under device manager, right click it and update driver from chosen path. When it comes to drivers for a phone, i usually will plug the phone up in every possible way, recovery mode, bootloader mode, mtp, ptp, just charge, while booting, even enabling usb debugging and repeating process untill its installed all drivers from the device.

android nougat has the ability to use the sd card as adoptable storage that allows you to increase overall internal storage (like link2sd) but the feature is not on the lg aristo...android marshmallow has the same feature but most phones didn't include it so you could activate it using adb...hopefully we can activate it but i dont want to take a chance because im not familiar with adb

True, the haptic power button in the back looks like a fingerprint scanner, it is not. But its a cool refreshing look at lg, volume rockers on the side and pwr button in the back! I hope to god we get root and twrp! The device scores a 34193 in antutu! Beats the galaxy s4 and is on par with the s5's at my store (I work for cricket) ;) loving this device, still havent charged the battery lol
Do you guys have any tips on how to reboot my device or bypass the google account. Just got my little sister this device about a week ago and she doesn't know her email address!! I should have set up the device my self :(( please help

Would love to see a kernel for this device. Governors and lower cpu frequencies would breath battery into this thing. Running 960mhz across all cores even while screens off is bleh.. Looking into development using ubuntu to unpack edit and repack kernel myself even, but it is a broad topic. Dedicating all day tomorrow to study the topic. If a dev can bring this to us Id offer $10.

GOT IT, if anyone needs it - the boot img stock image that is (metroPCS variant) just extract from the zip, and flash with fastboot (or whatever)

Extracted from KDZ update for latest firmware!

this boot.zip is empty. do you have another? stuck in bootloop and i believe the stock boot should fix my problem

I posted this earlier on messi's recovery thread just fishing for ideas:

So I got bored today and decided to factory reset, still had both zips on external sd card. Tried getting to twrp menu but this kept happening. I thought i figured it out yesterday, not today.

I've tried different button and on/off switch combos

A Iittle googling and I guess i should have allowed write access to the system partition, and that stock recovery is overwriting twrp.

Flashed twrp and still get the same screen. I cannot get to twrp menu. Phone is oem unlocked. I'm lucky that phone still boots to os.

Grab stock lgms210.kdz from lg support. Grab LGUP for windows. Grab appropriate drivers and .dll for common folder in lgup folder, if common folder is not there google it and make one, simple copy paste. Grab a program called uppercut for lgup. Go completely back to stock since youve already erased everything, then follow instructions on twrp page exactly as stated, and remember to enable system modification and decrypt your data :)

Odin89 thanks for the reply, couple of questions. My aristo is fully functioning, boot loader unlocked; do I have to go thru this process to get twrp working? Also i have the tmo aristo, will the lgms210.kdz work?

I believe tmo varient you have to give the lg site your imei to recieve stock kdz. And I honestly cant say that the entire process is required, could be something simpler, but this would be the one way to one stop shop it for sure and get back to a state you know for sure has nothi g tweaked, wich is what you need to follow messis tutorial :) also bootloader will stay unlocked after going back to stock, mine did.

Got root again. Found uppercut, lgup, and used LG M210SV firmware + disabled virus protection. Flashed recovery wiped and installed zips. Verified root and rebooted to twrp with reboot app. twrp menu loads. Thanks for the help.

is the Lg Aristo root-able? i tried like 4 ways 2 with a computer yet none worked
Hey im new just got this phone and in short yes but first you must oem/bootloader unlock it then flash it with messi´s twrp in fastboot then reboot in twrp and flash those two files one is su but the other is important just go to the link messi posted twards the begeing of this thread read before asking its kinda obviouse
Ok so now i have root recovery bootloader unlock im no dev but am looking for someone to help get my foot in the right direction im looking to try building a kernel but dont know were to start i have watched youtube videos but every one is different then i want to try roms but i need to know something with good rom support and similar arch (dont know how to spell it) to port over this is my daily driver so ill test roms and kernels but i need to find how to flash the stock kdz im gonna check out lgup but im new to lg and came from galaxy so its kinda diff

im new to this forum but i have been following this thread fro weeks now since i purchased my lg aristo. I am familiar with rooting but not as advanced as you guys seem to be. This phone seems unrootable at least at the moment, tried all the popular and unpopular motheds, none worked. I sometimes see that people offer donations to other people who manage to root or assist with rooting devices on here but i always see people offering puny donations. I would offer a minimum of $50-150 to anyone who can root this device successfully and post full directions, a video or add lg aristo support to the one click root app so others can use the same method to root their lg aristos. Let me know if anyone is interested. i need to attain root on this phone so i can make full backups with titanium backup and also restore all my angry birds scores. There are certain mod tools i want to use to add more gems and pearls to my angry birds 2 game, but u must have root to use such mods. i would easily pay anyone instantly with paypal if root is achieved. Im not sure why this phone isnt already supported with one click root, towel root and the others. What makes it so difficult/different???? i think bc it has nougat its too new and needs more time for smart users like you guys to crack it for rooting the device. Otherwise it should only be a little bit more time to get root on it.
