Root Lg Connect Optimizer - Coming Soon!

Just letting you guys know I haven't been sitting on my butt :) I've got a version coming up. I've just been making it differently than the esteem one because of some differences, most notably they've learned patched some stuff so changing the default settings would change performance negatively so i've had to go to the drawing board finding some new tweaks that are phone specific.

The other thing i've been doing is designing a new ICS looking tab/settings style interface so it looks nice inside pretty roms :) I've been adding cpu controls (cause the ones i've tried are all done crappy (rom manager, antutu, etc...) and this doesn't have to be a separate app anyways, it's not that intricate. They also don't notice when things don't stick like the governor on the lg esteem, and now this phone too. This is because once they load the values they don't refresh them every few seconds so you don't know this until you re-open their apps. In other words a placebo :)

I'm working on a generic library component to make a spin off of this one as well generic to all android devices for advanced users, the phone specific apps are tuned to specific phones so you don't have to do the work of testing randomly to see what may work, not work or boot loop you etc...

In the end it'll end up consolidating lots of the things you usually install 3 or 4 apps to do, but not get overcrowded/bloated itself like I see happen to task managers etc... everyone likes lean and fast :D

Well so far after learning when I made a few price changes on the last one, I found 2.99 to actually be the sweet spot. Any higher and people don't buy, any lower and the number of sales don't change and it drastically cuts any profit, plus the google mafia  takes 30 cents per transaction + 30% of your price... so out of 2.99 I see around $2, and -0.30 cents out of pocket if a refund happens (the transaction fee). So there's really a tiny fine line between literally giving it away, and actually taking a few bucks home. Plus as you guys know I'm always answering emails and helping people out so it's actually more work than what it seems. For example to use my app people need to know how to root or even what it is at all so I have to give them links, explanations and such.

In the near I plan to add my own benchmark suite right into one of the apps (don't expect this too soon though, it's almost like making a game engine :D ). Although Antutu is pretty much the standard, it doesn't keep track of things you changed to see if they were positive or not, you gotta pretty much eyeball it. It also doesn't wait for background processes to settle down first, so that can skew results. Since every phone is configured differently depending on who's the engineer working on it, it'd be nice to have a generic tool that lets people find the best settings for their own phone. The other thing I plan to add is clear english explanations for each setting based on facts and documentation, not stuff that you find scattered around that may be misinterpreted, or sometimes even non functional (like motorola specific build.prop settings that are floating around everywhere for phones that do nothing with them).

I am using the esteem optimizer for know seems to work fine. I will be getting this new one to thanks for all the work and great things u do for our phones

you should just make a unified LG optimizer, so that I would only have to pay for it once D:< I already payed for the esteem optimizer, and codewise they are probably just gonna edit the same thing in build.prop, so you might as well just build one app, unless you want to be like EA have the same thing (COD:BO COD:MW3) with few differences here and there and try to sell it as different products

lol... I totally understand you. The thing is this one is written from scratch so that I can make it modular in nature.

What i'm working towards is a unified framework where I can upload new settings on one of my servers, and i can keep adding settings and gathering info about new phones, updating the server side because the client will have all the code it needs to apply new settings etc... based on what model it discovers. It's easy just making an app that will apply certain settings no matter what, but it takes time and research to find the best ones specific to your phone. This way I can rapidly add phones. This should be the last phone specific version from here on though. ;) That being said, if I just made a generic tool to change this stuff, i'd be like lots of other apps on the market and most people wouldn't really see benefit without reading up on a lot of stuff for a very long time lol

I loved the esteem app and have no problem paying for another great app! Keep up the good work. Support the Devs!

I've been working hard all week till like 5AM trying to pack as many goodies as I can in there :) I'm still working on figuring out all the best settings as some config settings are undocumented and stuff, and I don't have the LG source code yet. Luckily I have someone helping me with the new artwork so I can release it faster :)

Good news let us know when things are almost done. Also let us know if the source code is released, I don't know what's taking lg so long.

Things are coming along. I just needed a bit of a break for a few days cause of everyday stuff. Download Antutu Benchmark and check my rank :D I've figured out a thing or two about taking advantage of dual cores and controlling them, as regular cpu tools get their settings constantly reset back to defaults. There's lots of stuff old tools don't seem to take into consideration with newer processors. Once the source comes out too i'll tweak the video driver to smooth out the 2d stuff if the driver is open sourced as I hope. I had the esteem side by side and man is it ever smoother. I suspect Vsync is disabled in the driver. If I can just enabled it and re-compile it then we should have buttery smooth scrolling, zooming, transitions etc... I think in games it's not an issue because you can specifically tell OpenGL to turn it on or off etc... it looks to me like it's drawing more frames per second than the screen can draw, causing tearing. Since the screen is so small though, it looks more like a stutter.

Its just the name i gave my app :) it does lots of speed tweaks etc, remove bloatware, stuff like that. It will be out soon. I will release it and update the missing parts as i go along because they're taking a bit longer to complete tho. You can do this kind of stuff without an app as well but not everyone knows how or can find it intimidating so i write apps that anyone can use easily without risk or problems.

This is a bit off topic ( I assume) but what about changing the density? Its defaulted at 240, but increasing it, can that have any negetive effect to the device?

no, worst case is apps start to crash, at which point you revert. best bet is to do a nandroid before you begin, find that sweet spot ;)

If you guys find good lcd densities that work post the value here and I'll add them as settings in the app too

now that the Source code is out we should expect the Lg Connect Optimizer this month I hope?

Yep, this week. I've had the day job pummeling me in the mornings with phone calls and stuff so I hadn't put in as much time as I could. I'm working on it right now actually :)
