Root LG ESTEEM and OTG Support?

Hello,

new to this forum, great looking forum .

I have been searching an answer which ROM and kernal do I need to use to get OTG support on LG esteem?

I tried many custom ROMS , but kernels too but kernel installation seems to be completed from CWM but when i check the kernal version from about phone , it shows older one,dont know why>

right now here are my specs on SW

Android v: 2.3.4
kernel version : 2.6.35.7-perf lg-electronics@LGEARND3U5#1
Build# NumberTwo v 3.0.1
SW version MS910ZVD

I would appreciate if you can provide links for ROM and kernel.

As far as OTG support goes, I 'believe' thats a hardware controlled feature so not possible.. As far as kernel description goes, which one's have you tried? Believe all that is out for ZVD is Plague Kernel and LDrifta's Speed and Speed Unleashed kernels.. make sure to wipe dalvik and cache before flashing.. Pretty sure I remember the name changing...

Thats wat part of the problem, when i flash kernel after erase all data even the kernel version doesnt seem to be getting updated in "about phone " when i look though installation for that kernel shows completed.

I have tried Plague kernel for sure. can you tell me how to wipe dalvik and cache, is that some option on CWM? i wud like to give another try with more kernels.

both are under cwm.. cache is on the first clean i believe and dalvik is under advanced.. the kernel version numbers themselves probably won't change, but for instance with the plague kernel is should say something along the lines of 2.6.35.7-Plague, and with that one in particular can be overclocked so you'll know its installed correctly..
 
another very important thing is that your phone probably running slow,maybe a lil buggy because zvd is old now,zve is the new version,id prob guess most have updated do to the fact of the changes going on betweem tmobile and metro,lg and metro stated that they both recommened to update.but if your happy with the service on your phone then dont its your decision,and the otg are you meaning the ota? and not being updated might be why your not seeing anything change? or maybe a bad download,wen u wipe everything then you flash kernels in cwm does it show that its installing and says some other stuff any thank you,then you go back to reboot phone and phone reboots? by the way you sure your build number is NumberTwo v 3.0.1,anyways is that the rom u flashed,because it looks like you have tried to flash azve rom over a zvd sw version,is this what the thread looked like [ROM] Number Two (#2) v3.0.1 {ZVE} ?

man this OTG check getting failed now really bugging me on Esteem. Over last many days, i have tried all above steps, clered cache,dalvik,factory erased then installed plague kernel , and few oothers. no luck. The ROM i have is ZVD from PG.

I dont understand is if it is related to kernel then ROM should not matter, right? thats what i have been trying only different kernel versions.

another question is which app to use to access OTG. I used OTG helper.
btw i hav been first testing it with OTG checker app as well.
So does any one has a working kernel and ROM for esteem for this OTG (on the go) usb support?

sorry bout the ota,otg mix up , can i ask what are you trying to accomplish? i know i red about this in the nexus 7 forum,i know you want the esteem to work,but ive not seen to much postings of that in here,maybe this might help i see there is different versions and so fourth USB.org - USB On-The-Go sorry i cant send you in the right direction,mayb pg,gbiggie,brainz,one of them guys can .

i believe if there was a person to do this,it prob would of been playfulgod,he has done prob if not all that prob goin to be done with the esteem,in that type of matter! now ive been wrong before but im pretty sure of it ;)
