Root Lg f60 metro pcs

I've flashed twrp on numerous phones and tablets and never had an issue. This is the first time a rooting has gone bad and I'm hoping someone has an idea how to solve this so I don't have to replace what was a great phone.

You have to be more specific about what happened, starting with how you went about rooting and flashing recovery. Also:

-Does it boot up or no?
-Can you get into recovery?
-Does phone still show up in ADB and/or fastboot?

And most importantly: Did you make a backup and copy it to your PC?

Sure you didn't delete anything you shouldn't have? It only takes one stupid deleted .apk to piss an LG off ;)

There are a few things you can try, but you may have go KDZ, so I hope you have working drivers.

No i got it. Just wondering about what shouldn't be uninstalled, I know there's a short list already posted. Will freedom kernal work, it bypasses morning call.

I followed the instructions at the links in post #164.

-Does it boot up or no?
Yes, it will boot.

-Can you get into recovery?
No, I've tried to boot into recovery using rom toolbox pro but because it freezes when shutting off/rebooting, I have to remove the battery and it starts up normally. I don't know of any key combo to get into recovery.

-Does phone still show up in ADB and/or fastboot?
Yes, it shows up in adb as a device.

And most importantly: Did you make a backup and copy it to your PC?

I made a nandroid backup after I installed twrp - but I can't get into twrp :)

I did freeze some seemingly useless things that were starting up using titanium backup. I'll go through those and unfreeze them and see if that makes a difference.

KDZ?
This? http://www.cellrabta.pk/2013/10/how-to-download-and-install-kdz-lg-firmware-all-android-models/
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1060121

ETA: I thawed that which I had frozen and it seems to have made no difference.

I think it's safer to just freeze the apps you don't want using root apps like Link2sd. That way they don't use any system resources and they disappear from the app drawer just like normally disabled apps. Plus, you don't have worry about having to reinstall them in case something does wrong.

I'm looking at the cellrabta site I referenced in my earlier post and can't identify the kdz file that would be used for this phone. Do you know which one it is or am I looking in the wrong place?

I did ask ;)

Wondering why he would mention doing the kdz thing if there is no version for this phone?
You would expect one to exist it's only the metro f60, tribute, and transpyre don't have kdz . The international versions do but they aren't compatible they have difference processors and NFC .

Cant Seem to get this phone to Root just stay at a stand still when doing the sh command after gaining access with Send_Command.exe ;/ sigh

Nvm i got it working after trying the Send_Command.exe over and over using a new command prompt each time and its working now xD

So I am sol with this phone then?

Not necessarily, if you can get into recovery. You can flash a backup you have using whichever recovery you have, or flash the system partition ADB/fastboot, if you made the ADB dump I mentioned earlier.

I think.....you can extract the system components out of a Nandroid backup made from recovery and push to the phone. Either way, I hope you at least made a system dump, if anything...

Sorry for delay, I did look for the firmware but as others said, I found KDZ for the foreign models, not Metro's variant.

Not necessarily, if you can get into recovery.

Can't reboot into recovery and I'm not aware of any key combinations to get there.

, if you made the ADB dump I mentioned earlier.

Not sure what you mean by ADB dump....

Those I can get. Which ones would I need and how would I push them to the phone?

I hope you at least made a system dump, if anything...

Again, not sure what you mean by system dump in this case.

Thanks for all your efforts on this. I realize it's not looking good for my little phone :(

Will the XPosed app work for this phone? I'm not gonna risk it so I need someone e to try it out for me.

Install the Framework and tell me if your phone is able to boot up.

Does anyone have any idea if we will get an app to root this phone? I was very excited to find out that rooting this phone was finally possible. Unfortunately I do not have access to a Windows computer. :(

@thecdn

If your phone still boots, you are SURE you have root, and the phone shows up in ADB, you can just simply type and enter:

adb reboot recovery

OR:

Download and install Terminal Emulator from the play store. Open it. Then type and enter:

su

(This will allow the emulator root access, you will be prompted for permission) '$' prompt will then change to '#' now you can type and enter:

reboot recovery

If you successfully installed recovery (said you had a Nandroid backup, I'm assuming you did) this should knock the phone out and reboot into TWRP. If it works, go into wipe menu, do a factory reset, then reboot. See if that fixed the phone...

If not, go back into recovery and do a full wipe. Then go into 'restore' menu, find your Nandroid backup, and restore that.

Beyond that, I don't know what else to tell you. I don't think root alone did it, it has to be an app causing the problem. Let me know if any of that worked.

I'm going to bed now so I'll try this tomorrow. If for some reason I can't get into twrp, do you think doing a factory reset from the system menu would have any affect?

Theoretically, that should reboot the phone into recovery. It may or may not work, and would recommend NOT trying it. I do know on an older LG phone I had, if you used the settings menu to reset it would lock you in a boot loop.

There is usually a key combo to get into recovery, but LG likes to be different with every phone that comes out. Most cases recovery is power and volume- keys. Could be different.

Nothing will get it into recovery, and I've tried everything. The phone will not reboot or turn off. When it even thinks about rebooting it freezes, and requires the battery to be removed.

I took it to a metro store and the guy put it on a tester for close to an hour. Said there was nothing wrong with the phone but there were signs it had water in it. Water? No chance, the thing hasn't left my body/house/work since I've had it. He will do the $50 warranty thing next week when he gets his warranty phones in stock.

And yes, I ended up trying to do a factory reset from the system menu but it said it would need to reboot twice and then promptly froze when it tried to reboot :)

Again, thanks for all your help, but it seems nothing will help this phone. I'll get a new one in a week and then debate whether or not I'll try to root it. Who am I kidding, of course I'll root it ;)

If you can turn on your phone normally go to play store and download Rebooter by playfulgod and see if that app will let you in to recovery.
