LG G3 Accessories Thread

I should have the white lg g3 cover by Tuesday. If anyone is interested, I'll take a loss and sell it for $32 shipped.

Get in line buddy.......;)

I'm gonna attempt a refund, even though the seller states no refunds.

Most will accommodate as long as the package is unopened.

I'm e-mailing 'em now & I'll get back w/you..........

EDIT:

Seller does indeed accept returns for refunds on unopened merchandise, buyer is responsible for return postage.

Awaiting return instructions........

I might just be doing that then, unless someone on here wants it.

I got a reply from the seller,VERY NICE,only one day after initial request. :congrats:

A refund is available for unopened/unused merchandise Less a 15% restocking fee,OR,full store credit.

That's a fair deal in my book.
Just drop off for return shipping,no extra shipping costs.
Coincidentally, perhaps, your offer to everyone here is exactly for the same amount less restocking fee. ;)

me too. Already issued rma for me, so I am retracting the sale on here.

So just a heads up, the Verizon LG Circle case does not have wireless charging capability. It only activates the LG circle feature (just clips on to the existing back cover, rather than replaces it). AT&T one does have wireless charging capability, but it's PMA, not Qi.

Verizon is selling two Quick Circle cases. This one does not have wireless charging.

Today they put this one on their site and it does have wireless charging.

Still no Slim Guard Case though...

That's the one I had posted earlier. They are having stock issues, but last they emailed me, they have the white back in stock. Gold, unfortunately, has stock issues, but I am willing to wait for it. Gonna get refund for white one I ordered.

yes, you did post it.

I also ordered Gold, btw :)

Sweet, thanks! I went with SlimArmor, Xtreme Guard, random holster, and Samsung Pro microSD. Just waiting for FedEx, then time for IOroot :)

Yeah, I ordered both and have already been in contact with the seller back and forth. The white, I'm in the process of having refunded (although, the seller hasn't gotten back to me to start that in motion. They also had informed me that they were having stocking issues with that, but got some stock replenished yesterd). The Gold, is having stocking issues as well. Just a heads-up, even if you might have received a tracking number already.

So ordered the Spigen Slim Armor case since they were on sale.. Anyone know why they don't the same price for different colors? Gunmetal was $16.99 and what I got was the electric blue I think was $19.99.. aargh

Has anyone tried out the Xtreme Guard screen protector yet?
Easy application?
Decent fit?

Thanks!

If you mean the tempered glass, yes, I installed, but I wasn't as successful with the G3, as I was with the Note 3. The Xtreme guard tempered glass is awesome, because it actually covers the entire front, but I messed up royally with the first one and just put it away to hopefully be able to wash off and re-use later, if needed. 2nd install was better, but not great. 3 lint pieces got in, but only one directly on the screen. I didn't want to go through the trouble of getting those off, so I just left it (the other two were on the side near the edge of the phone). It's a relatively "easy" install, but if you want to get it relatively perfect, then it takes a lot of patience. Unfortunately, I didn't really have that much time to take with it, as I normally would.

When I picked up my G3 yesterday at Verizon the rep tried to get me to buy new spare chargers for home and the car, saying that I shouldn't use my old ones from my GNex because the amperage is different and it'll ruin the battery. I told him I was all set for now but I'd never heard that before. I thought micro USB charging was all the same.

Is that true? Is there risk to the battery using different chargers or is he just full of it, trying to make a sale on overpriced junk?

I will say that the wall adapter for this thing is really annoying. It sticks out like 4 inches from the wall with the USB cable plugged in so I'd prefer to use other chargers.

Other chargers work, if they have sufficient output. The phone is picky on USB cables, though they don't have to be LG/Verizon cables.

What about ruining the battery faster using a cable with a different amperage and charge rate? Any truth to that?

The wall wart part is a source, while the phone itself is the sink. It is a nominal constant-voltage source, with a maximum rated output current.

If the wall wart puts out the proper voltage, after going through the USB cable, the device will charge. If the voltage drops too much, falls outside of the phone input spec, the phone will not charge.

The USB cable acts like a resistor, "burns off" some of the supplied voltage as current flows through it to the phone. A better USB cable has lower resistance for the power to go through, so more of the source voltage reaches the phone.

The other part of the wall wart is current output capability. If the wall wart has enough current drive, the phone will charge properly, as quickly as it can. If it has "extra" amp output capacity, no harm -- the phone will only pull in as many amps as it needs to charge. If it doesn't have enough amp output, then the phone will either charge slowly or not at all.

Last night I was connected to a generic 2A output wall wart, with a generic (but decent) cable -- the phone charged fine. Right now I am using a RAZR MAXX wall wart and cable -- again fine. I have run across one charger, and two USB cables, that just aren't working cleanly with the G3, but they aren't hurting it, just not being accepted as a charging source.

I'm no expert on this, but it sounds like nonsense unless it is a cheap poorly made knock off charger like the kind that were messing up iphones a couple of months back.

iPhone's are a different animal altogether, since they use Lightning cables. Using the incorrect cable can actually cause damage.

USB on the other hand..... markfm is right on the money.
