Ok most of us have already figured this out but for those newbies out there and those who haven't heard or tried it yet here is some info to go by before you soft brick or brick your phone.
After you have updated to ICS (4.0.4) you are pretty much stuck with only being able to root your phone.
If you try to install Clockworkmod or another custom recovery you will get a "Security Error" on bootup or even the "fasboot, fasboot, Long time no see" error screen.
If you use Titanium Backup (I do) and you REMOVE anything from the rom you will get the "Security Error" next time you turn on your phone.
If you use Titanium Backup and you INTEGRATE updates into rom, you will get the "Security Error" next time you turn on the phone.
Long and Short of it is this, if you mess with the rom, by removing or adding anything to it, you will most likely get the "Security Error" screen the next time you reboot or turn on your phone. So far I have been able to use the LG Mobile Update Tool to "RECOVER" my phone back to stock ICS, and then I have to "Re-Root". Not bad in the overall scheme of things, but remember this one fact - The tool downloads the update from LG's server, they can remove it at their whim, So until someone can figure out how to disable the security check at startup, it's not a good idea to mess around with the phone until that happens.
This is just a word from those of us who have tried these things before, and just want to warn/prevent others from the same headaches.......
And now back to your regularly scheduled programs........
