LG Optimus L70

There are times when I like the small size of the Motion. Was actually, thinking about sometimes changing the phone account depending on if I wanted a small screen or a bigger screen that day. One for example, is the small screen with hot-spot usage.

Screen size hardly means anything to me when hotspoting lte connection tho is a huge plus

I bought one on Saturday at Metro Pcs. They just arrived. I had an old LG Motion which I really liked except for the small 3.5 screen. I was told that phone and my wife's old LG connect were going to be obsolete because Metro has switched over to T. Mobile
I was under the impression that these new L70's had 4 gb of internal storage. Well, as I get home all excited about the phone...I was stunned to see only 1.5 gb of internal storage.
I was told on Friday by someone in the Metro Pcs store that the internal storage was going to be 4.0 gb. So this is completely baffling to me.

The phone itself has a nice 4.5 inch screen..It's much lighter than my Motion...It has the Kit kat Os and the processor is decent.
The camera and video are so-so. My Motion had 5.0 mega pixels but seemed to have a sharper image with both front and back camera. Especially front camera!(I guess from the smaller screen?)
Another major disappointment is that the L70 is 4g and not 4g lte. I knew that going in but I found that bizarre that they would do that.
The speed on the phone seems decent ..with or without a wifi connection.
On my LG Motion I was able to get quite a few games on there.. With the L70.. It has all the usual bloatware ...few of which can be uninstalled.
I have FB, Instagram, Vine, Bofa, iheartradio, Yahoo, Twitter, At&T and a few other apps that I've downloaded (No Games on it) and just with that I've used up almost 3/4 of the available internal hard drive space.
I moved all my pictures/vids onto an external SD card which helps.
Phone call quality seemed quite good. It also worked well in areas that were difficult with my Motion..(So I guess they're correct about the Motion not working with the new towers?)

Mixed feelings about this one. I do love the phone size. I've only had 3.5 inch screens and for me.it can be hard on the eyes.. I also love the operating system.. So there are pluses. For 50 dollars I guess I can't complain too much.

Like someone else had mentioned... An updated LG Motion would have been perfect.

It looks like your phone does have 4 GB storage. 2.5GB seems okay with kitkat + metro bloatware. Someone correct me if I am wrong, 4 G means you would be able to get up to hspa21+. So if you have good tmobile signal there, easily 3 mbps down or more.

When I look at my total internal storage on the L70 it says 1.48 gb of total space. When I click on apps downloaded it says 810 mb used with 701 mb free.

On my Motion it says 5.59gb total space and where it says "downloaded apps" it shows 1.9gb used and 3.7 gb free.

Is there something I'm not understanding with regards to the internal storage of the new L70?

No you have the right idea just an L9 on kitkat, I hope the l90 is equivalent to the motion refresh we would like to see (doubt it bet cash lacks lte)

i still think i was correct. sorry to disagree. look at your post, according to your post you used 800 mb with 700 mb free. that makes 1.48 GB. so where is your android operating system+metro bloatware+lg bloatware? that normally takes little more than 2 GB space. where it says total space, it means total space available to user.
i am attaching a screenshot of my phone with kitkat. officially i have 32 GB but we all know that computer manufacturers count 1000 as 1 kilo and 1000 kilo as 1 mega instead of 1024 as kilo and 1024 kilo as mega. so it essentially comes down to 29~30 GB. so if you add 2 GB+ with my total space it makes sense at 29~30 GB.

I wasn't disagreeing.. I was just trying to understand why my LG Motion has most of the same bloatware as the L70 .My Motion has quite a few big games on it and most of the same downloaded apps as my new L70 stuff like Facebook, Instagram etc... but my motion has so much more available internal space.

Does the old Ice Cream Sandwich o.s take up less space than the new Kit Kat?

No the motion has 8gb of storage and l70 has 4. That is the reason why

probably. i usually hang out in nexus forums and a usual nandroid for kitkat is 2.5 GB. ICS would be around 1.5 GB.
your motion has 8 GB internal storage with 5 GB available to user. so it looks like it has least amount of bloatware if you have 5.59 GB.
your current phone used a small 4 GB storage. L9 wich also has a 4GB storage, has 2.3 GB user available and thats jellybean.

Ah...okay thanks. So it's simply the fact that the Motion has 8gb of space. Just wish they had put more internal space on this L70.

Lg has been not thinking properly when it comes to that, if it has a playstore you are going to need at least 4 gb of internal storage free we may be low end phones but we have access to the world of applications

Yeah. My wife is loving the new L70. She loves being able to take snapshots with it and both of our internet and phone connections seem much improved. So the only major issue for me is the internal memory and the lackluster camera.

They think of it its just to keep costs of the phones down they can't give it 32 GB of storage. Lg has perfected the super cheap android market and one side effect of buying a sub 100 dollar phone is lack of storage space.

Definitely wouldn't expect 32 GB but throw us a bone and at least provide 8 GB. I would have paid $100 or even a bit more to get that extra storage.

There's phones out there in the 200 dollar range with more storage. A lot of people either forget or don't realize that every t mobile phone for sale is also a metro PCs phone. Samsung makes a few lower cost handsets with 8gb of storage. I think the light goes for under 300 bucks

I am quite naive with this stuff. I had no idea that T Mobile phones could be bought and used on the Metro account.
My wife and I like to stay under the 150 price range for phones... thanks for the info though. Luckily we're not huge game players so I think this L70 will work well for us but next time I'll do better research and go for something with a bit more internal memory.

No problem. The l70 seems like a decent phone for the price. As stated before its basically an l9 with a better processor and kit Kat. The l9 was a decent handset for sure. But yea any t mobile phone can be used on metro PCS without any kind of unlocking or tinkering. Also any unlocked phone can be used. Such as the moto g or any nexus device or Google play edition device. There's a lot of good deals out there to be had.

There is no place for this phone IMO, specs arent good enough to warrant dropping 50 on it when for an extra 50 you can get a samsung galaxy light. LTE, 4.2, 4 inch screen, unlocked bootloader, 8gb built in and sdcard slot. can be picked up from HSN right now for 100 bucks no rebates no need to be a new customer etc.

the only downside for it is that its a tmobile phone so you may need to get it unlocked in order to use it on metro (30ish bucks online or get tmobile to do it).

The light is only 100 shabby? Does it have a samoled display? I will look into hard core now since my lady moto g glass is still falling off

nah, lcd.

it uses the exynos 4412 which suffers from a bit of old age (think note 2 but lower clocked). its not a bad phone for 100 bucks, i just was annoyed cuz i paid 170 for it specifically so that i could get them root and a few members of the community left a sour taste. but it does have root and twrp :P

T mobile phones don't need to be unlocked to use on metro.
