Root LG Optimus M 2.2.1 Rooted!

Finally 2.2.1 rooted on phone with stock 2.2.1.

Use recovery option from lg updater first,

Flash the root rom from ed with lg lab 1.2 (I used 3017.prl, MS690ZV4_26-root and MS690ZV3_36.src from Andyo70)

copy the 2 files that ed provided with adb. (I wasn`t able to copy them from terminal)

also install superuser.apk from adb

Reboot and get your phone rooted

One weird thing that happened to me was that after the superuser.apk and the other2 files were copied phone connected to the network by itself.

ed thanks for your help and effort in this problem. Now I can the remove all the crap from metro

This is great news!! Thanks for all of the hard work from everyone involved.

Would it be possible to compose one post that gives step by step details, has all of the files attached and be made into a sticky?

Thanks Again

** Warning before trying this method, somehow phone loses the service after the flashing. But after I installed su and busybox my phone could connect. I`m not sure if it will hapen on any other phone. But the method works for rooting.**

Well I have to tell you that I juts rooted my 2.2.1 phone like an hour ago. I made a post of how I did it but the files are not online so will upload then right now.

First Install LGNPST from this post http://androidforums.com/lg-optimus-m/273406-new-lgnpst-lab-1-2-thread-now-hd-video.html

After everything is installed and the program too download these (they are the ones that were removed) MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service Other download source http://www.mediafire.com/?p6ayvc2q8q32v50

Then extract everything from the zip file that you just download to a specific location (for example your C drive)

Open up LGNPST and make sure that is set to provision and below provision set to Upgrade. For the bin file in LGNPST select the one from the zip called MS690ZV4_26-root.bin, for the scr select the one from Andyo70 package called MS690ZV3_36.scr and fro the prl select the one from my zip called 3017nam1.prl

After all the files are select click start (Is going to ask you for your SPC code, you can get from Andyo70 file using CDMA Workshop. Just see the video) Enter your SPC and let the program do the process.

The phone will restart when reach 43% but do not disconnect or touch phone until the process is 100% complete.

If everything went well your phone now is on the lock screen, now you should install ADB wich is needed to copy the root files to the phone.
Go to Android SDK | Android Developers and download the one that ends .zip depending your OS. Unpack the zip file to the root of your C drive and run SDkmanager.exe. Is not necessary to download anything that the program says at startup just download Android SDk platform tools. After open CMD adn navigate to where ABD was installed.

Follow instructions on this page How to Use Android ADB Command Line Tool | All About Web & Mobile Application Development to copy su and busybox from my download to /data/local/tmp/. Also follow the instructions to install Superuser.apk from my zip using ADB.

After that reset your phone and you should be root. To verify rooting download Terminal Emulator from Jack Pal. Then type on terminal su if you get "#"
you are successfully rooted.

Hope this help. All the credit goes to edodonnell for his files and the rooted 2.2.1. Thanks ed for your support.

If you have 2.2 rooted and custom recovery installed, then you can use this rom. It is not signed, so you will have to disable signature verification.
update.zip

I rooted my phone yesterday, installed custom recovery. I followed the steps mentioned on here

http://androidforums.com/lg-optimus...ry-optimus-one-p500-thunderg.html#post1896517

The problem is that thunderg and flash_image failed to install and said "update script not found". I was wondering if I could use this update zip. I went ahead and installed Megatron ROM and a kernel and I've lost all my data, cache and apps and my gprs isn't working. But the phone is super fast though.

so is your phone fully functional after flashing it and rooting??!!any bugs or anything??
Phone is faster than ever with all the bloatware removed. And there is no lags or bugs. Everything is working as normal and so far no problems with the root or the phone itself.

Best thing ever to have 2.2.1 root

so what was up with the phones not connecting to the network??and also, did your phone come stock with 2.2.1??

It's rooted but won't connect to the network, as warned. :(

Did you flash the provided prl??? 3017nam1.prl??

If you did, then copy su and busybox using adb and also install superuser.apk after the flashing. And restart your phone. Should be connected after the restart.

If that doesn`t work either use the recovery function on LG Updater program right here LG Software Updater Application Download and try the guide again. Hope this works because that was the way that I could got it to function.

Well mines came with 2.2.1 from stock. And I could succesfully flashed and root it. But it wasn`t connecting to the network, but after the flash I copied su, busybox and install superuser.apk using adb and It connected by the network by itself. I don`t know if this works with every other phone.

ps. before starting the flash I use the recovery option on Lg Updater to start the flash using a fresh installation. And it worked. For those that phone are not connecting to the network try this: use the recovery option on LG Updater then follow the guide and flash using the provided .bin file and the provided .prl file.

Mine came with 2.2.1 from stock and when i try andy's method to downgrade i get the blackscreen. i was wondering if some one could create a post with directions on how to root it using the method you did? i would appreciate it, i am new to android but i can follow directions well. i rooted my iphone many times when i had it.

Thank you if anyone is willing to write it up.

What exactly do you mean by reset the phone? Power off and on?

I was able to get the phone working again using the lgupdater.

Ok that was what I meant, if you want you can the guide again and it should work because it is a fresh installation.

So i followed the steps and rooted my 2.2.1 phone but i could not get signal. So right now i am trying to restore it and i will try with a brand new install and see if it will work that way.

it still does not work with a fresh install. I think it has something to do with the PRL. LGNPST has an option to just update the the PRL but i dont know how to get one that might give my signal back.

if anyone has any suggestions please let me know

I tried flashing update.zip from custom recovery. It failed with some error. Then I selected reboot and my phone hasn't gone past the first LG flash screen since last night. I tried several times. It just stays there for 30 minutes and switches off. HELP!! Have I bricked it?>
