LG Optimus M Now $149

That is some bullshit. Our they giving refunds back or should I just return my girls phone and get her an optimus v. If they accept returns

I just looked on the metro site and they sell it for 199 but you have to get a mail in rebate

I am not surprised. This is typical of all companies in consumer electronics. The early adopters pay a little more. Take notice that $50 of the reduction is a mail in rebate. People that actually send it in will probably have to wait two months for their money back. New buyers are also likely to get phones with 2.2.1.

So the real question is do I get this now for 199.00 and wait for the 50.00 back in the mail. Or do I wait for the LTE Droid Samsung at 399.00ish at the end of the month. Or do I really wait for a Droid on LTE that is not Samsung in the middle of the year. As the talk of at least 5-6 other phones by then. No matter what I have to wait for something...... As I paid the full 229.00 for the first one of these when it came out even waiting for 50.00 rebate with a final of 149.00. Is no matter how you cut it 80.00 less then I paid for my first one. My plan for now is get Optimus #2 now then see what real phones (i.e. not Samsung) are out by summer upgrade then and EBay off one or both of the Optimus M’s then.

P.S. "New buyers are also likely to get phones with 2.2.1." That is why with so many wonderful people on this site and all the work they have done already I can "fix" this if that is the case. Thanks in advance if I do need to downgrade the phone when I get it.

Yeah, but you will be trying to downgrade a Virgin phone to 2.2. Virgin has never had an LG Optimus 2.2 phone. ALL their phones are going to be 2.2.1. LG had downgrade files for Optimus M because the early Optimus -- like yours and mine that we paid $229 for end of last November -- were 2.2.

NONE of the Optimus V will be 2.2. You might not be able to downgrade to 2.2.

Run that by me again pls..... Why are you saying it is a V?

Because we were talking about how the Virgin Optimus V is $149 right now, but the Metro Optimus M is only $149 if you send off the mail in rebate which could take weeks -- really $199 cash out of pocket and wait two months for your $50 back...

"My plan for now is get Optimus #2 "

Maybe I misunderstood what the OP was saying but it seemed like he was leaning for the Optimus V (cheapest option right now) and then wait to see what LTE Androids come down the pike for Metro and see if "LTE" speed is any better than Sprint's hopped up 3G. (Right now Metro's LTE speed sucks, to be honest).

But looking back at his post he does talk about eBaying one or both Optimus M. So, I guess I was mistaken.

I think anyone that knows anything would jump ship and get the optimus s. Metros 4g is never gonna be that good. You'll probably get updates later than anyone else. Whereas as son as sprint gets their update the virgin version will be able to put out on there phone. Oh yeah first sentence what I mean is all samsung android phones have been pretty much junk or quickly discontinued. Some of them now are okay because they (devs) have gotten rid of the rfs file system. I was excited about the optimus m at first but after using metro's service first and seeing my girls phone in action I had to pass. If none of this means anything to you at least do some research before you buy a phone. Will I have 3g data or 2g? Has the company I wanna buy frpm been good about product support?

???? No I am talking about the metro optimus M. I do not know where the V came from.

yea my optimus crashed on me when trying to backup my current rom, when i recieved my new replacement,it has 2.2.1 on it...and it ****ing blows, you cant root..this phone is dead to me until i can delete all this metro bloatware.

so...if I go buy the LG Optimus NOW...it will be 2.2.1, and I can't root?

edit: nvm.. I saw the downgrade thread after :P

I wonder how much BETTER the Optimus M is compared to the Ascend

Depends on what Optimus you're talking about. There's talk about all kinds in this thread when this sub-forum is supposed to be about what you can do with the Optimus M.

The M can not be rooted while on 2.2.1 but can be downgraded to 2.2 if you're not a dumbass and can get through my guide in one piece. Many people have but recently there's been an influx of idiots that claim to have bricked their phones using both downgrading methods I've posted about.

That may sound harsh but I'm grumpy and growing a little sick and tried of hearing people whine about how they somehow screwed up their phones because they followed my guides. I followed my guides, I wrote the god damned things and I've never had a problem. So who's at fault? Not me dudes.

Hey Andyo,

I don't even have a Optimus M yet, and I read your instructions, and honestly... I feel they are very good, and very simple to follow.. when I get my opt M next week.. if it does indeed have 2.2.1.. I will be following your directions to get 2.2

MUCH better. I have a friend who has Ascend and it's crap compared to Optimus M. It's very laggy, feels cheaply made.

Ascend has 2.1 and 256MB RAM.

Optimus M has 2.2 (more built in features like voice input) and 424MB RAM (or maybe it's considered 512MB but it only shows up as 424?) Anyway, much more RAM.

I've handled 3 Optimus M (mine, my wife, a friend's) and one Ascend. All the Optimus are more responsive, even if not rooted.

I had an Android "party" the other night to show my friends what settings to use, how to download apps, how to swype, and all that. My wife and I have two Optimus Ms. The two friends had an Ascend and an Optimus M. I handled all the phones during the course of the evening to demonstrate stuff -- and I am so glad I never even considered the Ascend. ;)
