I have a VM Optimus running Froyo. I downloaded and installed the LGMobile Support Tool a month or so ago, and now see that Gingerbread is available (software version VM670ZV5).
Has anyone installed it this way? To success? I can't even get past the "Please Connect Your Phone" stage, even though the phone is connected via the supplied USB cable.
And do I really want to do this? I am curious if my WiFi Hotspot will still work, I love that thing (using the Quick Settings app). My employer's internet policy is really strict, and the proxy server and WebSense make using the internet a lesson in frustration. I just hook my laptop's wireless connection to the phone and I have unlimited (albeit a little pokey) access.
TIA

Other than a few minor changes to the menu and other small things I cannot remember off the top of my head, there was no difference between the two that I could tell (nothing snappier, and no difference in battery life).
