Root [LINARO] AWEstruck v1.04 12/14/14 | [3.4.107] v1.05b6 5/30/15

What is the average/recommended temp the CPU and Battery should be running at? I know the cooler the better just trying to see what temps are average.
 
Thanks for the feedback guys, I decided to release beta 6. I already started on the next beta, it will be a nice surprise.

dvdavid888, I can't find any documentation from Qualcomm on their recommended temperatures but I can tell you my CPU runs anywhere between 20c and 80c.

Boredom can sometimes be a blessing. Here's a new beta already. I've tweaked the readahead, added prevention of entropy depletion, and patched the kernel up to 3.4.86. That should translate to a little more speed and a lot more stability. F2FS has also been enabled.

No, only the zip files with kk in the name will be KitKat compatible. I have to compile with different options to get KitKat kernels, the change I noted is that they compile from the same source code. Unfortunately I still don't have a working kernel updater for KitKat. I can at least look into manual update steps until we can get an anykernel updater.

D'oh, forgot about that one. I'm adding to the to-do list on the first post so I'll remember.

Our only hope of not needing a Y cable is if I can get pictures of both sides of any and all circuit boards in the phone, so that I can look for a power supply. I think we require a sacrifice.
 
Here goes nothing... steps and files to try out the latest beta on KitKat. This is UNTESTED.

Prerequisites:
7zip
cygwin
abootimg
AWEstruck_JB_v1.05_beta1.zip - 9.42 MB
AWEstruck_KK_v1.05_beta1_binaries.zip - 8.69 MB
the zip file for your KitKat rom
  1. unzip AWEstruck JB in its own folder
  2. copy wlan.ko from the KK binaries zip to the JB folder, in system/lib/modules/prima, and rename prima_wlan.ko (replace the one that is already there)
  3. place abootimg in a location easily accessible from cygwin
  4. extract the boot.img rom the KitKat zip, place in the same location as abootimg
  5. extract zImage from the AWEstruck KK binary zip, place in the same location as abootimg
  6. open cygwin, change directory to the abootimg directory if necessary
  7. abootimg -u boot.img -k zImage
  8. this will likely fail with a message like "boot.img: updated is too big for the Boot Image (7712768 vs 6828032 bytes)"
  9. copy the new size and feed it into abootimg like so:
  10. abootimg -u boot.img -k arch/arm/boot/zImage -c "bootsize=7712768"
  11. copy the modified boot.img to the JB folder
  12. zip all of the files in the JB folder, name it as you choose.
  13. put the zip on your phone
  14. reboot to recovery
  15. for the love of GabeN, perform a full backup!
  16. flash the zip file
  17. reboot
  18. With any luck your phone boots with the kernel. If not, go back to the recovery and restore the boot and system partitions.

I checked the config and it turns out ZTE enabled OTG from the get-go. So either host power isn't enabled (need to know all of our components to be sure) or we're stuck like the Nexus 4. Beta 2 is ready! I'm hoping exFAT works, I built it into the kernel despite dorimanx's instructions to build it as a module. I don't have a 64gb sdcard to test with. Other than that, the kernel is now at 3.4.105.

Which ROM are you on? I can make a beta 2 for you. I'm just trying to avoid making a kernel package for each of PhenomX4's ROMs.
