List other dual core options besides the 3vo??

Thanks! That last engadget review made me wonder if the 3vo is worth another two year prison term.
My biggest hope for this phone with dual core is when I tap....messages, it opens right now. I absolutely hate tapping an app and having to wait seconds before it displays.

Well the HTC Rider that just moseyed through the FCC and has one of the new 2nd Gen Qualcomm Snapdragon CPUs which is arguably better than the NVIDIA Tegra 2. I know you asked for dual-core, but I've seen a couple videos pitting this CPU versus 3 others, and this one won. Disregard if it's not your cup of tea, but if I weren't already set on getting the EVO 3D, I'd definitely look into this one.

That review was fatally flawed by a biased reviewer. Check any one of the dozen or so other reviews before taking their word for...anything, really. Thanks! :)
 
i think a lot of these reviews are pretty nit picky. Lot of them expecting a month of use on one battery charge, or expecting some type of super futuristic 3d experience and 900 megapixel cameras with 200x optical zoom.

It's clear the 3d tech on the Evo 3d is where 3D tech is at right now, on any device. Battery life will not be great, just like the Evo 4G, depending on use of course. I got 30 hours on my evo 4g, and i expect the same with the 3d. This is just where battery tech is right now.

Just my opinion... i'm not one to nitpick or complain much about things so maybe I'm alone here. :D
 
Just wanted to give you guys a chance to get back on topic here.. The thread is starting to evolve into the reviews thread. Any more dual core phones out there worth discussing here?
 
The only dual cores expected on sprint this summer are the:

Evo3d
photon
Galaxy S2
Kingdom (which sounds similar to the sensation)

Note the last 3 do not have announced release dates so "this summer" while likely is speculation.

On other providers:
tmobile has the LG g2x and sensation
verizon droid x 2 (but it is not LTE)
at&t atrix
-
It is expected that mroe dual cores will arrive for the other carries this summer including:
galaxy s2 all three (you can get it for at&t if you spend $600+ for an unlocked version)
bionic (sp) for verizon
driod 3 for verizon
some htc phone i don't recall for verizon

I'm sure there are others but those spring to mind.

Actually, I think the Kingdom is only a single core Snapdragon.

I gotta call you on this. With pretty decent use, this is not possible on the 4G. Standby, I have gotten that. Also by jumping on wifi where available, etc. However, simply using the radio and pretty decent use...not possible.
 
Oh well. Also It hink some LG phone is comming out for sprint that might be dual core; the problem is again no official announcement so the details on this one is a bit scantier.

dual core isn't eveyrthing; I'd be perfectly happy with a nexus s iff it had an sd slot; working gps and working 4g.

standby, I can do way better than 30 hours on my Evo. With 3G off and connected to wifi at work and home (and minimal usage, hence standby), my battery drains 12% in a 24-hour period. This is a testament to me having eliminated practically all radio and CPU usage that might otherwise happen while I don't need my phone.

The problem here is "pretty decent use" is purely subjective. And my brief use of my camera or GPS Nav might not qualify as heavy use, but it very well might use more power than someone texting and browsing for a few hours. So without actually laying out what exactly was done in those 30 hours, one cannot "call BS" on it based on a totally undefined standard of usage.

Ok, somewhat back on topic:

One of my concerns about dual core had been battery life, and after reading these reviews and only taking in the objective parts (what the reviewer did and what the battery life was), I'm convinced that I will be able to get at least 3 days without charging based on my usage patterns. I say this because on most days, I can get 2 days in on my Evo 4G without charging, and if I were to perform the tasks in the review on my Evo, I would not get such good battery life as the 3vo did.

It would seem that whatever efficiencies that dual-core processors are offering do not require a sacrifice in battery life, and this is a really good thing. It almost feels like there IS such thing as a free lunch.

That's true. I send about 100 texts a day, my email polls every 5 mins. I check and send email throughout the day. I stream Howard Stern from 8 to 10am. I am on Facebook and entering other apps. I'm lucky to get 8 hours on a charge. I have a charger everywhere I am for a period of time or i'll be dead before I get home.
 
I really dont want to leave Sprint, so I guess I am getting the 3vo. Can't be any worse than this 4G.

I think we will see this phone sometime middle to end of August. (if you look at the date on the screen it says Aug 11)

The SII i dont think we will see until atleast sometime in the Fall. Maybe October or Holiday time.

The Kingdom might come out inbetween somewhere as it wont really be condidered a "powerhouse phone"

Sprint will likely spread out the release of the big powerhouse phones.

Nothing great about that. They said the bigger battery helped "a little". This bothers the shet out of me.!! He said he could go a work day with a few calls. Not to mention any other usage.
I'm reluctant now to trade my 4G. Once it's gone, it's gone. I plan to get the 3vo and i'll keep it for 30 days to test it. If the batt life is poor, calls are poor. Buttons feel mushy and cheap, it's GOING BACK. I will wait on the Galaxy. Not a fan of Touchwiz, but I need a new phone. Too bad the Nexus isn't dual-core!
