Whats up guys. I recently updated my Evo and am having a problem with the location. Sometime it says i'm in Russia (i live in VA), so the weather and the clock changes. This is a big problem as is screwing with my alarms and calender. doesnt seem to matter if i have gps turned on or off. also the navigaton get my correct location (google and sprint). any suggestions?

Thanks

Not sure if I'll be helpful -- I found your post searching for the same problem. This morning mine started telling me I was in Nairobi. I turned it off and back on, and it found the correct time, but then within a few minutes it put me back in Nairobi. I then went and turned off auto-time and manually chose my location, then turned auto-time back on. It again went to Nairobi.

I've now updated my profile and PRL and restarted, and it's been showing me in the correct location and the correct time again. I'm monitoring to make sure it sticks. A google search showed others talking about this same problem since the last update (I updated almost two weeks ago), and a few of them did the PRL and profile update, but it didn't work for them. I'm hoping it sticks for me.

Same problem...weather says I am in some place I am not. I travel often and LOVED the fact that I could turn on my phone wherever I was and could get current weather and a five day forecast. Now it is stuck on one of the places I visited two weeks ago.

Any help out there would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks,
Chris

Well, my fix unfortunately didn't work. My phone kept the correct time all day yesterday after the second profile and PRL updates, but when I woke up this morning, it was 4:30PM instead of 5:30AM. I was in the correct location though, both in GPS and weather, which wasn't the case yesterday. Glad I didn't use it as an alram clock as I had to actually wake up earlier than usual today.

This morning I went into settings and unchecked, then immediately rechecked "use network time". It reset the phone to the correct time without me having to choose a time zone. Now I wait again to see if time remains correct.

This is the first real frustration I've had with the phone. I don't really care from the weather app side, but I use the phone all the time for stuff that requires accurate time and location.

I've had this problem when I did the update, and my coworker just now got the same issue. There is nothing you can do but wait for it to correct itself. I tried everything and every setting and nothin worked, and then one day it just worked. Didnt take that long though. I would say it lasted about a week

My buddy's EVO is doing the exact same thing. He has got it replaced and after they gave him a new one, it updated at the store, kept the time for a couple of days and now he's back in Yaounde..If you haven't updated to software version 3.70.651.1 PRL version 60674 DONT DO IT!!!! there is no known fix as of yet for this!!! I have not updated my EVO yet and will not...

this has been an issue since way before 3.70

some have reported that opening weather and turning off the sync and gps auto update functions and then turning them back on fixes this

and then

homescreen -> Menu -> Settings -> System updates -> ... update both profile and PRL

Many of us do that for any major update - no guarantees, but it's been known to cure a lot of ills.

Have any of you tried clearing the cache and data from the clock and weather apps in the application manager built into the phone?

alright here's the deal...i thought about trying all of the above ways to fix my pronlem but decided to venture another route. ok are you ready?? simply goto settings > applications > manage applications > scroll down to find HTC weather sync provider and select it > then hit clear data (not cache). then simply sync the weather however you may choose and BAM!! problem solved...permenantly

I wonder if any of you with problems have the "allow mock locations" box checked?

Check from the home screen

  • Menu
  • Settings
  • Applications
  • Development

I was looking for something else and came across this setting. Clicking this setting overrides your actual GPS/Satellite location.
