Help Lock phone while talking on it. (EVO)

I am a newbie to the EVO and touch screen phones. I keep hanging up on people, putting them on speakerphone or muting them when I am on the phone. Is there a setting that locks the phone while your on it?

There is a sensor on the front of the phone that will activate when you are on a call. It's supposed to turn the screen off when you put the phone up to your head. Is the screen not turning off for you?

The screen does go dark when I have it to my head and turns back on when I move the phone back down. But it does not prevent me from "face dialing".

this happens to me as well,and even if i turn the phone off from the button at the top it still turns on and off when i put it on my ear...to me it seems like the sensor does not work as its supposed to, also when i need to hang the screen takes a while to turn on to hang up the call

You sure you're not just moving it slightly away from your head, causing the screen to turn on, and allowing buttons to be pressed?

Make a test phone call, put the phone down on a table or something, then put your hand over the sensor. Make sure the screen turns off, then try to press buttons and see if they're actually doing anything. Start with that.

This would be a nice feature. Sometimes I put my wife on speaker so our toddler can talk to her. He usually goes right for the big red hang up button!

as mentioned...unless the sensor is faulty...or you are holding the phone at an odd angle toward your face...this should not be an issue.

that being said...widget locker does have a setting for in call lock

The EVO has a peculiar behavior that I don't like.

If you turn off the screen during a call with the power button, then hold the phone up to your head to block the sensor, it disables the screen-off and goes back to normal where the screen turns on once the phone is removed from your ear.

I would have liked a native way to disable the screen while in a call.

well..though not native, widget locker allows locking of the screen while in call
