Lolipop!

Apparently, Android 5 is imminent for the Z series, starting with the Z3 handset. No sign of it yet on mine though.

Posted today in the SonyMobile blog:

"We’re starting our Android 5.0, Lollipop upgrade from today for Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact. You’ll see the upgrade hit first devices in the Nordics and Baltics, continuing to further markets."

Really liking that this is back
  • Better storage control and customisation – with the option to easily move applications from internal memory to SD card – giving you more control over your content, particularly useful for devices with slightly less space

I downloaded the baltic version that was posted on another forum and flashed it, so far so good. Running nice and smooth. I really like it.

Loving the fact that moving apps to SD Card is back. TBH, it should never had left but thats another issue.

Also, i read an article that it should start appearing in the US "from" 16th March. So i would expect to see it on my phone by the end of March.

No April fool. I got it thru PC Companion. Works fine.

Lollipop download has just turned up for me this morning, 623mb download, I have a unbranded Z3, using the EE network in the UK

Had it for about a week now and initially I thought the battery had taken a massive hit in performance, but I realised that all the display and stamina settings had been reset. I sorted them out, restarted and the phone still has a great two day battery.

I like the new look, though I miss the lockscreen widgets.

Running Android 5, the Z3 remains an amazing phone, love it!

Upgraded for 2 weeks and seriously UNHAPPY with Lollipop. My biggest issue is the unbelievably bad deterioration of the internal and headphone speaker. Calls can barely be heard and forget about listening to music on the train. My phone isn't rooted so I cannot edit the mixer paths.xml file.
The phone heats up to a temperature that is uncomfortable to hold against my ear, and the phone doesn't start up properly after a reboot. I have to leave it for a good 30 seconds first. Otherwise it crashes, displays nothing whatsoever on the home page and is unresponsive altogether.
I hate the sound profile (interruptions/priorities) and I miss all the things I used to love - the notification bar, the silent / vibrate option and most of all the glittery finger trail on the lock screen. WHY OH WHY take that away too? What is up with them?

Updated a few weeks ago. Much better, and all the crappy Sony UI bits from KitKat are gone. Only complaint I have are the status bar icons, they are misaligned and inconsistent.

Beside that, all running pretty smooth, just like my Nexus 5.

it's june 2015 and i finally got lollipop on my z3. i'm with tmobile. i haven't had any of the issues others have experienced, has worked really well so far. one can only hope this continues.
