Root Looking around for a rom dump from Tapout Edition Ascend.

yeah... how bout sharing "this" ROM to the rest of us... the more that can test it, the better off we might be!!

I just got it yesterday so there's not much to screw up on it lol

I rooted my Epic with no problem, i'm not too scared to tinker with stuff. I've never done roms, but I will try cwm and see what happens :)
 
I have faith that my fellow nerds will pull this off... It's times like this that makes me regret not adding programming to my other geek skills...
 
I'm just an Audio/Video Computer tech, I'm good at installing and repairing. I have done some low level hacking. With my Acer Aspire 1, but nothing whith core is level programming.
 
Update. Backing up and restoring gave the same results for 2.xx and 3.xx so no point in uploading again.

I think they may have done some hard coding to prevent the TapOut stuff from transferring (I bought it to try to get 2.2 for Pip and Isaac if he can use it), which is locking up some other stuff too.
I'm at work now so not much I can do. I do have a Linux PC at the shop (no net access though), so if anyone can tell me how to access the phone that way please send me a PM. I'll try whatever I can.

If someone DOES have a nandroid or (preferably) a straight image dump, I'll look at it and let you guys know what's up with it.

If someone does have the nandroid backup, all I need is the system and boot images.

isaacj get ahold of me ill get it to you,

i got it to a zip format that can be flashed etc and boots what not.

wifi is broke. so is data and mms.
 
How much you guys wanna bet that the frigging programmers at Huawei are sitting there reading this thread waiting for success... Then release the friggen official 2.2....

Nah, they made it that way on purpose. They had to throw a monkey wrench in there to make it harder to transfer so more people will buy the tapout. Waste of time, though. It'll get figured out.
 
I did something different today to try and get more information off the phone. I just got the data uploaded for Isaac and Pip to look at when they get a chance. It's a lot of data for them to sift thru and it's going to take some time.
I just wanted to let everyone know that it's being worked on and they are doing their best to figure it out.
 
This is way happens when hackers are told " no we won't issue an upgrade " I love it!

Hi Playful God....I've been following the forums for a couple months now and I'm tired of waiting for an official release..:) I'd like to upgrade to cm7 but have never done this with a phone. can you tell me where i can get detailed instruction on backing up my contacts etc., and then step by step how to upgrade from a rooted 2.1? Any direction on this would be greatly appreciated!
