1998 baby!
Does the evo have a music app that shows the lyrics of a song as it plays? My friend's cliq2 android has a cool stock app that does that.
If you're not happy with the quality of sound coming from the Evo, there is no program that will fix it. Tweaking some frequency responses will not help with SNR, THD, crosstalk, or other important attributes. The only way you could conceivably fix it would be to use the Evo as a digital source which would eliminate the HTC DAC and amp from the circuit.

Ignorance is bliss....and thats not a cut. I am super picky, hard to be satisfied with something...usually need the best, etc...
I doubt that its really "ignorance" as much as it is "personal preference" and "reasonable expectations". I personally think the EVO sounds great as well - though even my TP2 sounded better. Obviously not the best but certainly good enough and far from the worst. Hey, I was never impressed with the sounds coming from the Apple Ipods as say compared to my Creative Labs Zen player. Another thing, and I am not an expert or audiophile by any means, that makes a significant differecne is the quality of headphones you are using. A good pair can definitely compensate for less than spectacular output.
The phones that tend to have good audio are Nokia, SE, and the iPhone. Here is a recent review that shows how good the iPhone's music capabilities are:I actually wanted to make this thread too. It's seems the mp3 player is such an unimportant feature to most now of days when it is one of the biggest reasons I would get a smartphone. Glad I got some suggestions from this. On a side note, is there a nice phone out there that does have a good mp3 player? Will the epic have a good one or the droid x??
My car has a USB connection. I plug in my Evo and play my music that way. Sounds great.
Not at all compared to my first generation Zune. VERY flat. I'm not looking for anything reference quality on the go, but the HTC Player make 256kbps music sound like 96 kbps.
Using bluetooth headphones, my music sounds fine with the HTC music player. it is nice and loud and awesome.
You do know that if you were to use audio over HDMI, you'd need a separate, external DAC to process the digital signal, right?I'm actually pretty pleased withthe respone that I get over my SE530s, even if the impedance matching between them and my evo is shit. What we need is audio output over hdmi, which we can then amplify as we see fit.
Must. Not. Reply.

Hey, you'd be surprised how good the freepulse wireless headphones sound. Much better than any wired headphones i've tried on the EVO. SERIOUSLY!
