I was wondering if anyone knew of any good texting apps?? I used to use handcent but with its new update its slow and ugly and gosms doesnt work for me, when i receive a text it wont vibrate..... the old handcent worked perfect.

Go SMS is the best messenger app. It'll vibrate. Go into settings and set up the custom vibrate to however you like it

i used to use handcent till the 4.0 update came out, i dont like the way it looks

Oops, I'm a dope & didn't read your entire OP, sorry. :o Yeah, I didn't take the update for the very reason that so many people were complaining about it. Did you have the older version backed up so you can revert to it?

no i dont have a backup of it, but do you know the version number??? maybe if i know the last version i can google and find the apk

3.9.10 is the one I have. I'm pretty sure that's the one right before this most recent update.

m0bstr. Try App tyrant. When you first open it up it will save every installed app in it's apk form to the sd card. Any time you install an app after that it auto save's the apk. If you update an app and it's running bad or is now rendered useless, all you have to do is go back to App Tyrant and install the old apk. You don't even have to un-install the bad app, just it's apk on the sd card.

Maybe this will keep you from having to find different apps that might work as good as the one that you really liked.

You do have to go in every now and then and delete some of the old apk's. If you like the way the update is working delete all the old apk's and just keep the installed apk.

To access the apk's press the android guy. It will take a little bit to load all the apk's, just be patient.

This is the best app for non rooted user's to save all their apps to the sd card. If you have low space you can uninstall the apps you don't need to use all the time, but still have the apk on the sd card. When you do need it you just have to go back to App Tyrant and install it for the period of time you need to use it, then uninstall it.
This will allow you to have as many apps as your sd card can hold.

And thanks to App Tyrant, I may be able to help m0bster out if s/he doesn't find the .apk and checks PMs. ;D

does anyone know how to disable updates so it doesnt keep telling me that handcent has an update???

Go into the Market or Play store or whatever and disable automatic updates in the settings. Or for each app you don't want to update automatically.

And quite honestly, I kill the Market when I'm done with it so it doesn't tell me anything until I go into it myself. ;)

Durrrr, OK it's not that. It's the first thing in the settings. Notify of updates or whatever. Uncheck that one. But then it won't tell you that anything has updates. I prefer it that way, though YMMV.
