that will help me keep track of my son's location? I just want to make sure that he's safe and not going where he's not supposed to be going. I'm so not ready for these teen years. Thanks for the help.

If he has an android phone, you can track him through Google's Latitude app that comes with the phone. Just make sure that he stays signed in on his phone. It's not 100% accurate. But I've heard that it can get you within 1/2 mile...maybe closer.

find my phone......when you send a text keyword "findme" is the default, from any other phone than the one you wish to track, the service will begin sending you gps updates...and even a link to google maps that will pinpoint your lost phone's (or sons) location. its bad ass

Great idea. But you got to remember, you've got to let teens be teens or else it will make them do everything despite what you say. Just sayin ;)

That sounds pretty cool. Can that track any phone, or just androids?

kidlogger is the best logs activity and location and uploads to online interface. use it to keep my texts and calls backed up online

Thanks everyone for the help. I do understand that teens need to be teens but I'm just not ready. Lol I'm trying to give him his freedom but I also want to make sure he's safe. He's hanging out with a kid that's 3 years older.

I'm 17 and I would not like either of my parents doing this ;o but I suggest lostdroid it gives you a gps location and it also helps if his phone gets stolen.

well hoping that u dont but if u ever end up in a bad situation at this age that could have been avoided ur guna wish ur parents did that for u. maybe not now but 10 years from now when u tryna get promoted to a manager and u realize u still had that one thing on ur record which ruins it all

You just sent chills down my spine xD

I think you shouldnt track your kid. i do understand your fears tho. Fact is that you just cant be there every step of the way. he must make his own choices sometime...id shit bricks if i could prove big brother tracked me like that....electronic surveillance def falls into a moraly hazy area

While I'm no parent I can't help but agree. Being worried is one thing, but using your kids phone as a tracker is another (unless the kid is really that bad). In the end teenagers are going to be rebellious regardless of how much you try to avoid it, and the more you restrain them now the worse they are going to be in the long run.

But who am I to talk.

Thank you for that. I will not change for anyone. I'm raising 3 boys by myself and if this gives me the piece of mind that I need then I'm going to do it.

True True.

This is not to track their movement and limit their freedom. This is for safety and peace of a mom who raises 3 boys who pay their phones and phone bills :)

I would recommend you doing a search on Google Play looking for 'parental control apps'. I can't speak for which ones are good or not.

I don't want to limit them at all. I just want to make sure that if there's ever any trouble and my son needs me I can easily get to him if that makes any sense?

I raised two teens. One never got in trouble and the other got in trouble all the time. Both ended up fine, but I would have allowed my troubled teen to go out and do more if I had an app at the time that I could use to keep tabs on her in key situations. She used to lie to us all the time about where she was. Caught her constantly.

I don't break the law because it's the right thing to do but also because I'm afraid of getting caught.

well put

I have used 'wheres my droid' to keep track of my kid. Text a special password of your choosing, and it activates GPS location even if its off, texting you the location , speed if hes traveling, etc.
