Looking to buy a memory card for my note

Like it says im looking to buy a memory card and just wondering what are yalls opinion on the best brand/size. I remember reading somewhere that some cards used for digital cameras would work but some clarification would great guys.

It all depends on what you want to store and how much of it - Obviously the more you intend to store on your phone (photos, music, documents) the more capacity you want to have. I always go for the max that will fit (32 GB in most cases) because I keep allot if music on mine, but you can get anything from 2GB up to 32 in most electronics stores or online.

After that is what access speed you need. There are class 2,4,6, & 10 cards with each number denoting a higher read/ write speeds. The higher numbers are supposed to give you the fastest speeds depending on what you're doing. For music and documents, access speed really isn't much of a factor and class 2 or 4 cards are cheaper to get and work just fine. If you take allot of photos, you want a class 10 so you're not waiting as long for the image to store between shots.

As for brands, you want to stick away from no names but everyone has their own opinion on which name brands are the best.

I hope that helps a little!

Best deal out there right now is the Samsung class 10 MicroSDHC cards from (stick with trusted sources to avoid getting slower counterfeit cards) Amazon. With every other brand you will only get class 6 SDHC or less for near the same price. The class 4 cards currently only cost a few dollars less and since everything is moving to SDXC (exFat native) the older SDHC (Fat32 native) have come down as stores want to make room for the newer cards. Soon the only thing you will find available are slower class 4/6 SDHC and class 6/10 SDXC which cost a great deal more. Basically the class 6 SDXC is the same speed as the class 10 SDHC when used in older non SDXC ready devices and they cost a good bit more unless you find one on sale.

The main difference is that the SDHC standard has a 4GB file limit and cards are limited to 32GB. But the Note uses Fat32 which means you can never overcome the 4GB file size limit. Where as the SDXC standard has 16EB (exabyte) file size limitation and 2TB card size limitation but only in the native exFat format which the Note cannot use. So if you buy an SDXC card it would be a bit more future proof and you could get over the 32GB storage limit of SDHC. However you would not get all the benefits of the new standard like faster transfer speeds.

The main thing to consider is what you do with your card since if you plan to record lots of HD video on your Note a class 6 or better is worth it. I find my phone is much less laggy overall since upgrading from a class 4 to a class 10 but i've got over 200 apps installed, lots of music, images and videos on my device. Basically my Note is my desktop away from home and replaces every other device i would have used before so having a fast card is very much worth it to me. Plus if you can afford to spend $400 on a phone there is no reason you should not be able to spend another $40 on a good card that will probably outlive your device itself.

I agree, stay with trusted sources (and for Memory cards, eBay is NOT a trusted source!!!). I trust New Egg and they have never done me wrong. Amazon is great as well, but BE CAREFUL because you don't always get them from the SAME SOURCE... The only good thing with Amazon is their return policy is great, so it's a LOT safer then eBay for sure.

DON'T ALWAYS TRUST THE PACKAGING in some places. I saw, in Staples, a Class 10 card (per the package) and yet the card itself stated it was a Class 6... I pointed this out to the manager and he pulled them on the spot, but BE CAREFUL is the morale of the story. :D
