2.2 has not been pushed to anyone that I know. Download of some beta version is not its arrival. You are saying Sprint has pushed it to your handset OTA? Its not official until Sprint pushes it OTA...IMO. This same thing happened with the EVO months back, someone published a link to a so called Sprint official download of 2.2 but it was some buggy beta version. THEN a few weeks later when Sprint pushed the final version anyone that downloaded that beta online could not get the real OTA version to load properly because the system was looking to replace 2.1 not another version of 2.2. Let the user beware.
 
I gues you missed the update being official. Very few have gotten it pushed to their phones, and it's already been extracted from the cache and posted for all to manually put on. As with most releases, it will be gradual across the country. I'm usually up and running for 3-4 days before I get update notifications. Just easier to do it myself than wait.

Agreed with let the user beware.

FWIW, this one was pulled from an OTA to a user's phone on XDA. There have also been a few users who have called Sprint about it and have said that Sprint has acknowledged it as being legit.

Ultimately, who knows. To each their own though :)
 
For the skeptics. Good enough for me.

I also believe this makes the Epic the first US Galaxy phone to have 2.2. And it wasn't the 1st US Galaxy phone released either. Not that I follow other carrier's galeaxy forums, but have they complained as much about the lack of Froyo as the Epic people haveM If so, they have even more reason to be peeved.

and are you going back to the EPIC?
 
Well I waited long enough for Samsung. I had the Epic turned off and the Evo reactivated today. I don't think an OTA push of 2.2 is in the cards anytime soon for the Epic
 
Sorry, guess I didn't realize 2.1 is so ancient and antiquated. Though the DK28 Froyo update is working really well on my Epic, and while not official, I didn't have to root, and I've been running pretty smooth on it for a few days now.

The Evo is a nice phone. I owned one for quite awhile. Even on Froyo it wasn't doing anything more for me than what I could do on my 2.1 Epic.
 
Rooted Epic/Froyo/Leak is working just great for me. I really don't care when the OTA comes out now. ;-)
 
I'm not really concrned about the oficial release of 2.1 at this point. I have more faith in the rooting community getting 2.3 on there once they extract the rom from the nexus S.
