Loose screen display

Dunno if it's just mine, but I noticed on the left hand side of the n7 the screen is a bit loose. I can push down on it. Whereas on the other side it's flush.

It's ok for now, but if it peels anymore then I'm getting it changed.

I've seen this reported several times. Try pushing it down until you hear it click in place. It may take a lot of pressure to do it.

If it was me, I would call today and see about getting a new one. Its definitely a defect.

I can live with it for now. If it gets worse then I'll be exchanging it.

To be fair I only noticed it because I always look for something wrong/broken on any new device I get lol

this seems to be endemic in this first lot of N7s. Google "Nexus 7 screen separation or defect" and you'll find lots and lots of examples.

I hoped it would be a problem in the US only, with the heat of the day being much hotter than here, but it seems not. I think I might be cancelling the order all together if many more UK purchasers report the same issue.

Dont press hard on it, there's been several reports of the screen breaking as a result.

not good news.

Hey guys,

I'm just writing this because I have seen LOT'S of people getting defective Nexus 7 tablets. What do you guys think about this? In my opinion there are way too many defective tablets. I really love this tablet and I also love the new OS update. I haven't ordered one yet (my idea is just to go to a gamestop or any other retailer and get it there). What would you guys do if you were me? Would you just get one asap? or would you wait for google to fix all the problems?

I merged your thread with this one. Here is a link to an article that may help all those suffering from the problem.

These types of things happen with super releases. Normally it is because they are pushing assembly as fast as they can and QC breaks down. It happens with both Nexus devices and iDevices. Problem devices will be taken care of through warranty replacement or in store exchange.

The amount of people reporting this issue is REALLY starting to worry me, I'll be thoroughly inspecting my Nexus 7 when it arrives tomorrow or Friday.

I highly recommend this. Mine is perfect and I am still looking at it with a keen eye just to be sure. Spent good money on this. Not settling for a defective device ever.

Can't wait for everyone to get theirs!

I would be upset, too. Is this the left side in portrait, or in landscape?

Mine has occurred left side portrait.

It seems most people who are getting this are getting it in the left side (portrait) with some getting it in the corners. Mine was very slight and did make a slight clicking noise when i touched the very edge (this is the bezel edge and didn't really occur touching the screen itself). Tightening the screws did work for me, but I'm waiting to see if it holds. If anyone has fixed it and then it comes back can they please let me know and I will do likewise. I just want to make sure this isn't a reoccurring instance (I really don't feel like RMA'ing and waiting for a new one because I'm already addicted to it).

Hey guys, here's a fix. Very easy and won't damage your device in anyway. You simply remove the back cover, which comes off as easily as a Galaxy Nexus Battery Cover while also snapping on the same way. After the removal you tighten screws at the corner of the device and then replace the back cover.

Here's my source.

Lots of people on XDA are reporting it is only a temporary fix and it pops back up within a few hours.

Nope, and to be honest, the last thing I am going to do is tear apart a brand new device to try and fix a manufacturing defect.

What he said. To send these units out like this is a ridiculous quality control failure. I would requesting a new one ASAP.

Yeah, I feel the same way but after waiting for the device, only to find out that I have to ship it back to the Goog and wait for another might make me tempted to break out the tools. Maybe I'll be one of the lucky ones.
