Root Losing too much Battery Power While Idle.

Every night i go to sleep with the phone at 100% battery and i sleep for 6 hours. When i wake up ive lost 25% battery. Data and Wifi are always off while i sleep. Let me explain my set up. I am running Gingersteem Extreme 1.1 with the Plague 2.2 hdmi fix kernel. I think some of my apps are conflicting with each other but i dont know which ones and how to fix it. The apps i think are conflicting are setcpu, romtoolbox free, romtoolbox pro, LG Esteem Optimizer. I have 2 romtool boxes because GSE comes preinstalled with the free version and i had already bought the paid version but it doesnt overide the free version they sit side by side in my app drawer. Now ive never used the cpu sliders in either of the rom tool boxes. I only used set cpu to oc and set profiles. Here are my profiles:
Main : min 122mhz max 2ghz ondemand
Charging : min 122 mhz max 460 mhz ondemand priority 100
Screen off : min 122 mhz max 460 mhz ondemand priority 90

Additional Information: I cant use 2x battery because it doesnt bring back my 4g when i unlock the phone. Same goes for Juice defender. I just use a widget called Data Switch to turn off 4G. Also in the esteem optimizer the mods i used are the battery sensor delay i have it set to chuck norris mode and memory mod i changed the vm heap size to 48m and i use the boost sd card speeds and disable swap file. And as far as rom tool box pro i only touched the boot screen changer and icon changer nothing else. Can somebody help me please?

Get rid of the free version of ROM toolbox via the paid version get rid of setcpu cause ROM toolbox has the same thing in it lg optimizer has to go as well I have all those apps too and installing them all will kill your battery without a doubt it's sucks to pay for apps and not use them but if you don't your battery will die superfast lg optimizer is I obsolete seeing as the ROM has all of those things already in it (hope I helped)

Edit (keeping setcpu may not hurt but try everything else first then if you still get the drain get rid of it)

I unistalled the Romtoolbox that was pre-installed on PG's Rom before I reinstalled my paid for Romtoolbox Pro, and I use Juice Defender, but I charge my phone every night. I can go through a whole day at work (about ten hours) with the phone on and come home to about 65% battery left, but my phone is in my pocket all day, and I only use it to check text messages or email and occasionally read the news.

turn on airplane mode if you don't mind missing calls(disregard if you do mind). Then go to setcpu and go to profiles and create one like this:

and it should look like this when you back out(make sure you click the enable button on top):

I've done this and noticed only a 10% drop in about 8 hours

Edit: I don't use any app killers or battery savers on my phone. Without turning on airplane mode I have noticed about double the percentage usage in about 8 hours

Turn off background data in accounts and sync and lower screen brightness.

I had already done that after installing the rom sorry i forgot to say that in the first post. I disabled auto screen brightness and i set it to the lowest setting. Also about background data do i still need to disable even though data and wifi are off?

You don't plug your phone in to charge it at night?

I tend to charge it to 100% before i go to bed because the metropcs salesman told me i would kill the battery life faster if i left it charging over night.

Almost everyone says that, when it comes to electronics. It does make sense, but every piece of technology that I owned, I always left it in the charger for a long period of time (hours). Maybe if it was plugged in for a day or more, it might mess up. But I really see no problem in charging it over night, especially if the phone has low battery. At least, thats what I think.

I noticed a simular problem. Even after removing ROM toolbox, it acts weird. What I noticed is in SetCPU, info time in state, is like 80% my max speed. It's like the screen off profile doesn't work. Going into SetCPU after a reboot seems to work, but I haven't really figured it out yet.

This! Just leave it plugged in at night. In fact I keep mine plugged in whenever I'm at my desk. Doing this does not hurt lithium-ion batteries since unlike NiCad batteries they have no cell memory degradation issues.

See above. This advice is from the days of NiCad batteries. It amazed me how many people fail to understand new technology and just continue giving advice that held true only with the old stuff. Li-Ion batteries have charge cycles instead. There's a chip in the battery that keeps track of these and will no longer allow the battery to charge once the cycles are used up. A cycle is defined as draining the battery and then charging it again. So by allowing your phone to constantly drain you are actually decreasing the battery life.

Lithium-ion batteries are common in consumer electronics. They are one of the most popular types of rechargeable battery for portable electronics, with one of the best energy densities, no memory effect, and a slow loss of charge when not in use. Beyond consumer electronics, LIBs are also growing in popularity for military, electric vehicle, and aerospace applications.[6] Research is yielding a stream of improvements to traditional LIB technology, focusing on energy density, durability, cost, and intrinsic safety.

Felt the same way with my new 1800 mugen battery. but after I recalibrate with the mugen App that someone had post and a few profile tweaks with Setcpu things have improved. one weired thing was, my battery was at 24% then went up 27% i was like wtf. but been getting lots more hours now. loving my phone more with out the big butt extended battery

I think dat was me :D I like the thanks button :)

I have been getting around 24 hours out of the stock battery, although I did order an extended battery so that I can have extra juice when I know I'm going to be using my phone a lot during a day.

you must constantly turn data off, keep lowest light setting, scale cpu down alot, etc to get that kind of longevity... On top of very light usage.

Not really, I just have Juice Defender running. I also don't have a ton of stuff running in the background constantly updating. It might be closer to 18 hours. In any case I recharge my phone every night because it will be nearly dead by morning if I don't.

It's part because it defaults to 1.2GHz, part because the sensor driver eats 2-5% CPU constantly, and part by system_server which encompasses many apps in one. Been trying to find a way to split that group up in the battery stats so I can isolate it. My esteem optimizer helps a little if you disable the swap file and use chuck for the battery setting but it's not as drastic as with the stock ROM. I also found the gingersteem 1.0 + the new kernel seems faster and easier on battery than the extreme ROM at least for me.

So are you suggesting i downgrade to gingersteem 1.0 by Mtmichaelson? Right now im running 1.1 extreme with 2,2 oc kernel by Playfulgod. And what you kernel are you talking about because both updates to blitzkreig ands plague were released almost simultaneously. Im going to start leaving the phone charging overnight now that soo many users told me to but its still not going to help the 25% i lost at work in the 8 hours my phone is idle. (and no there is no place to charge it in my job)

This is kind of a joke but if you truely don't use it turn it off. I accidentally did that and when I turned it on when I got home it said 99%

People thought I was fibbing about my stock battery life, glad to see someone else that got a decent stock batt. I do use mine throughout the day, streaming Pandora, checking forums, texting, calls, and searching around the android market none of which is on wifi. I keep screen brightness on auto and I have auto-sync on. Lasts me all day with plenty left at night when I plug it in.

Lol, thats a hardcore battery saver. You should write an app and put it up on the market for $9000

Are you using Juice Defender or another battery app?

How do you get such long battery life? what are you using? are you using setcpu( if so what are your profiles)? lol

I'm not exactly sure what's different in the OC kernel with the hdmi fix (and probably the others), that even at 1Ghz stock setting I seem to get less battery too, even with my regular esteem optimizer tricks. I mean before this there was times I'd almost gotten 17 hours out of a single charge on a stock battery. Either way i'll find out in a few days :) The first time i really analysed all this stuff was when i first got the phone and created the app. I'll check it out at home with my linux box :), needed to make an update anyways, just ran outta possible stuff to improve lol.
