Help Lost Gmail Notifications with Go! Launcher since update

But I'm not sure of which update broke this. There was an update to Go Launcher as well as the actual Gmail application yesterday and I of course downloaded both. And now, visual notifications no longer appear on the dock icon.

Along with the Gmail update came some weird sync options, and am wondering if these things have anything to do with the issue? Gah.. why can't things just be a bit more simple? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Ok, so I went to the Go Launcher's dev blog and they're aware of the problem, which apparently stems from Gmails new API. So I decided to uninstall the Gmail update, but for some reason can not get notifications to show up or even give an audible alert at this point.

I'm hoping someone can kind of take me through the settings I need to have configured to get it back to where it was.

No dice, and this is now apparently a very well known issue. Guess I should look around the forum for further details. All I know is that at this point, Google is really turning me off. If I wanted to be locked in to proprietary launchers and apps and not be able to use third party vendors, then I would have gone with an iPhone.

The only thing preventing me from switching now is the price we pay for our 2 lines. Hopefully Sprint will get the iPhone sooner than later, I'll gladly pay full price for one if this is how Google is going to represent themselves. "Don't be evil" my arse...
