Root Lost on how to unroot

Okay, so like my screen name says. Im a total dummy to this whole root thing.

I bought the phone, didnt know it was rooted until I couldnt install the new update. I have no idea how to unroot this thing.

It has the superuser on it and when i check to see if its rooted it says:

I have no idea what any of that means.

I have searched how to unroot but I dont want to use the wrong method.

Can anybody point me in the right direction???
 
I upgraded to the galaxy s2 and I am giving my evo to my kid brother, but the screen is messed up and it drops calls like crazy so I need to take it in to see if they will replace it. Just dont want to run the chance of them telling me no because it is rooted....

Edit::: I have the hboot 2.18 but mine is unlocked, can I still use that writeup??

If they say no, print this out and hand it to them.
 
I might just have to take it in there and give it a try

but just in case, how do you do this step.

"4.we need to extract and then move the flash_image and the mtd-eng files on to the sd card. make sure that you do not put the extracted files in any folders. they need to be on the root of the card (very top level)"

When you download those files, I believe they are in .zip form? Use 7-zip or other program to extract the files.
After extraction, find the flash_image and mtd-eng files.
Take those 2 files and put them on the sd card...not in any folder on the sd card, just plop them on....
Did I follow your question correctly?

sorry for all the questions, but for step 7 when i type adb shell, i do not get a # , i get a $...what do i need to do now
 
i saw this comment from a person who had the same issue

I had to toggle signature verification after running superuser zip while at the cmd adb shell part. so instead of just typing in su to get permission select toggle signatue verification in recovery


but i have no idea what that means. I have superuser, but i dont know how to ask permission (if i even need to)
 
ok so lets do this:

1.download and move the su file to the root of your sd card that means not in any folder. it just needs to be on your card.
2.go into recovery (power off, make sure fastboot is unabled, and then press and hold power+vol down)
3.select flash zip from sdcard
4.navigate to your su file by using the vol up and down button and select it with the power button.
5.once done, reboot.

hopefully that should do it.

Do I extract the su file as well? or just move it as is?
