Root lost programs after root

stub83

Lurker
I rooted my incredible by the unrevoked method. After loading the drivers from my computer, I was supposed to remove the battery and then put it back in,
In the process of trying to get the back off, I accidentally hit the power button, and a couple of green circular arrows popped up on the screen. I got the
battery out finally, but the same process continued after I put it back in. The next thing I know, it says I am getting an OTA. I continued with the root process successfully, but I have lost all my downloaded programs. I had them backed up on appbrain, but fast web will not install on the newest update. I also have MY Backup, but Market wants to charge me for (MY Backup Pro) the download I need to restore my programs. Not really a big deal, but I wondered if there was another way to restore my programs.

sounds like you did something weird, only way to get your programs back would be if you had a copy of all the .apk files.
PS, are you sure you rooted successfully? (you have the Superuser app in your app drawer)

yes I have the superuser icon in my app drawer. As far as doing something weird, I stated in my first post that I shut off the phone instead of removing the battery. I am not sure if that makes a difference or if it is weird!

just sounded like your root process was weird, but it worked and that's what matters. But like I said the only way you can get your exact apps back is to have a copy of the apk's stored on your sd card.

Now that you're rooted, get Titanium Backup and you'll never have to worry about losing your apps again. Also, do a Nandroid backup ASAP if you haven't already. Cut your losses and move forward with better and more powerful tools.

Thank you for the advice. I am unable to use Astro File Manager Pro. I have downloaded it twice and each time when I click on it I get the message "can't execute file". Are there other file managers that anyone would reccommend?
