M9 presale announced by HTC

Hopefully its just a quick hold because of better than expected demand for the device. I would have gone for the dev edition, but the fact that HTC will allow you to give back the device and swap it for another carrier version at no charge made me decide to just buy it outright from the carrier at full price and avoid those nasty carrier agreements they try and lock you into.

I was reading/looking around for some HTC news/forums/etc....
Based on absolutely nothing ;),some think the BackOrder e-mails are merely robo-mail,in lieu of organic life-form generated e-mail,as orders aren't actually being processed over the weekend & will be filled/shipped starting 3/30-4/3.
As for the Not Available for the Gold Unlocked version,I'm hoping it's something similar & you'll have success on 3/30.

I'm guessing I'll be giving up T-Mobile's WI-FI Calling on the Dev Edition,but,that's OK,I rarely find myself out of range.
As for Sprint on the Dev Edition,as soon as it ships,I'll test it w/a Sprint SIM Card & see what we have.

Realistically this is HTC we are talking about, It's not like an Apple preorder with 20 million users crashing their servers and selling out in the first hour. The demand may have been pretty good for the DE in Gunmetal, but it's still listed for sale 48 hours later.

I'm fairly confident my order will ship in the next 4-5 days. So much so I have already listed my DE M8 on eBay as buy it now and auction ending in 7 days. ( I do still have an M7 I can fall back on if HTC totally screws this up )
 
I ordered the silver on gold from Sprint. My M7 was silver my M8 all Best Buy had was the Amber Gold. I heard a pink one was coming out for the M9o and I bet it's a Best Buy or even a Verizon maybe exclusive who knows. I can't wait till Monday. My husband wanted Gunmetal Grey like his M8.

DEVELOPER EDITION Update:

Just received a 3rd e-mail,this one from HTC Customer Experience:
This one states what is basically known,shipments will begin 3/30/15.
Very reassuring,as the tone of the e-mail sounds a bit more personal/with a human touch,than your typical mass-mailed canned correspondence (real e-mail to a real human being & contact #).:)

Well, it looks like the Gold on Gold sim free version still isn't available. Does anybody know if it was available when the ability to order first started and it just sold out or if perhaps it's just not going to be available at launch?
 
I'm sitting here patiently hoping I hear the buzzer go off to let the UPS guy in the front door downstairs in the lobby of our condos. I have to leave around 1:45 for work and my husband leaves shortly after. Usually I get an email from UPS My Choice telling me a time frame but I didn't see one this time.
 
My phone is here OMG! I went to UPS my choice to check and it said delivered left by door. I live in a condo that noone can get into without being buzzed in. Sometimes they buzz this old lady downstairs to get in and just leave outside door and their they were. Mine had 78% and is charging more now. I don't know whether to activate it yet I have no case and I still have my M8 and have to leave for work in 30 minutes. Maybe on dinner break at work I will.
 
Well, looks like things will work out. We went to Best Buy to play with a live floor model and she found the gold on the side of the silver on gold combo quite ugly and thus wanted gun metal gray. So we just placed our order, gun metal dev for her, silver on gold dev for myself. Opted for standard shipping on the order though.

This is going to be my first ever HTC device after 4 years of Nexus and Samsung devices. Go easy on me:oops:

I got mine today and got the silver/gold and i actually like my husbands gunmetal better bu mine will stay in a case so it's ok. I haven't activated mine yet. I don't have a case yet.

I'm really looking forward to it, wanted the Gunmetal on the M7/M8.
For all who are purchasing Carrier devices,glad to see some color options on opening day. :cool:
Was doubtful of the coloring depicted in all of the renders, as it resembled past renders of the M7/M8,only to be quite a bit lighter in color.
After seeing my 1st unboxing video as recent as 3/29,those concerns were put to rest, it's one sweet looking phone in Gunmetal. :)

I'd picked up a Nano-SIM on the way home tonight if I'd known beforehand that it'd be here tomorrow A.M! ;)
Should be here NLT 11:30 A.M. EDT, then, straight to T-MO for a Nano SIM.
Got a nice pocket pouch w/closure to secure the phone until the body skins/cases arrive.
Once I'm finished w/my usual 2X/month platelet apheresis,( Look it up everyone & join the club, if possible :) ) I'll be back here & ready to answer any?'s anyone may have.
 
I'm supposed to be getting this wallet case tomorrow and another cheap pink kickstand case to hold me over till I get the dot view or commuter. I'll activate phone tomorrow. I was on wifi tonight and got error message in the App Store and when trying to set up email. But when I went to the Play Store on my computer it let me download apps it had my phone name and said no carrier. I got like 10 apps downloaded but I have so many more its going to take forever to set up my phone.

I'm off tomorrow so that's good. This is too soon to say but I hope I don't regret getting this phone. Does seem like M8 but I haven't really messed with it or even taking a picture so I can't say. We did play a YouTube video on both M8 was louder but my husband said M9 sounded better.

I said I liked his gunmetal better mine has this rough spots on the edges from the two tone. My husband said exchange it but I'm not going through all that when I'll have a case on it. The grey speakers just look nice on the front.

My google play says error retrieving information from server [DF-DFERH-01] and I can't set up my email but I am on wifi and I can downoad apps from the play store being signed into my computer they go to phone. Is it cause it's not activated yet? I do like it but was having second thoughts last night than I told myself I need to use for a few days check out battery and other stuff. I can't remember where I posted what but we played an AC/DC video on both phones the M8 and M9 M8 was louder but my husband said the M8 sounded better and he uses headphones alot. He liked the ones that came with the m8 and lost his so now he has another pair.

My coworker ended up ordering today through the next plan. He had the M7 so it's big step up for him but I told him he may of been happy with the for cheaper but that the 9 is the latest and he'll be good for 2 years. Anyway as soon as my wallet case comes today I'll probably activate my phone. I'm also going to get my Zagg put on. Isn't the M8 and M9 screen size the same will the 8 fit on the 9. I just had a brand new one put on my 8 last week under warranty. My husband wants to take his off and put it on the 9 I want a new one but if the screen size is the same i'll have her put an 8 one on if they don't have one that specifically says 9. It's gonna take me all day to get all my apps and have the phone the way I want it.

I did download one theme to try and I see where you can have the bottom 3 buttons do whatever you want. You can change them to do other things but were used to them doing what they do. Ok time to finish getting apps LOL!
 
That's a random Play Store error going around.

Some have fixed it with a factory data reset.

I've yet to see it, it keeps cropping up on my wife's phone.

EDIT:
Now 21.38GB, uninstalled (yes, uninstalled, not disabled) FACEBOOK. That's the only pre-installed app I've seen so far......
