anybody else running Magnolia ROM?. it is a sense ROM w/ crapware removed, similar to Virtuous I guess. similar to other ROM's it has all languages except EN and ES removed. you can find some mods and themes here.

anyways I just started running it and I like it. little touches like having power control widget in the notifications bar is cool, and in theory some of those themes and mods look cool.

anybody have good kernal ideas? any other tips / tricks you like?

Yes, it is great. Should be a new version (1.3.1) out this afternoon with minor fixes (Hulu).

1.3.2 is out now, but currently the links are down while sk806 makes the switch to dropbox from mediafire. My g/f gets more and more disappointed with her rooted DInc, I need this one to hit a home run.

I've had the overheat reboot issues with 2 previous phones now, and rather than submitting another RMA, I decided to try out a few different kernels and ROMs and see if I could find a combination that would be more stable.

Currently running Magnolia 1.3.2 with the KiNgx Kernel, as of yesterday. So far this combination has given me the best stability. I haven't had any overheat reboots yet. With stock and other ROMs/kernels I tried, I couldn't even have Navigation going for more than 15 minutes before the phone restarted. This morning I had Nav and Grooveshark running on my way to work, and it was fine the whole time. Battery monitor log shows consistently lower temperatures than I had before, so I'm crossing my fingers and hope it stays that way.

Magnolia is the only ROM I've tried that works well with KiNgx. I had tried Incredibly Re-engineered 2.4 earlier, and it seemed to be working okay, but it had issues downloading files.

Only issues I've encountered so far is the app try takes a second to load, probably due to the obnoxious quantity of apps I have installed, and I occasionally get a FC when managing apps in the Settings, but that has happened with almost every other ROM I've tried, and I can get right back in without any trouble.

EDIT: Just got a forced reboot at 37.7C while charging and running Titanium backup, right after using the Mobile radio a bunch. Will have to keep an eye on temps and usage.

Running Magnolia 1.4 Beta for Steve while he's on the mend.

Using Chad0989's Incredikernel, having already tried the stock kernel that comes with Magnolia, as well as several of HeyIt'sLou's kernels. Incredikernel is faster on SD card USB access than any other kernel I have tried; has great battery life and charge time.

Also using several of DevilDog's modifications (but not the entire Black and Bold theme), including the lockscreen mods, color menus, and color notification icons.

Flashed the lot with Clockworkmod 2.5.1.8 (Chad0989's version with multi-touch support), but now using 3.0.0.8. Magnolia should flash with either; Steve build a mandatory wipe into the 1.4 beta because of issues with 1.3.2 installation. Hopefully he'll be back soon to finish the job.

UPDATE: Have since migrated to Nils' Business GingerSense 1.4. I expect when Steve's better he'll integrate some GingerSense into Magnolia, but for now, with stable GingerSense ROM's now out, the temptation is simply to great to pass up.
